"People have made it a bad word and I don’t think it’s a bad word. People have made you aware. When you’re watching something on screen, you’re like, 'Arey, ye iski beti hai.' It doesn’t need to be like that. People should just go in and think what they have to. And they do think what they have to."

Ananya Panday on the division of insider and outsider in the industry

In the same conversation, Ananya Panday continued to share that the industry has become exceedingly divided between insiders and outsiders. She added that the industry and the audience have given her so much. Ananya further mentioned how people from the film families are thriving but so are those who don't share any links with the industry. She also cited Shah Rukh Khan as an example of being successful in Bollywood as an outsider. She said:

"But I think it’s just become very divided, like ye insider hai, ye outsider. The industry has given us so much. The audience has given us all so much. There are people from a film family who are thriving, and there are people who are not from the film family thriving even more."

Ananya continued the conversation and added that she believes it is more about the individual rather than anything else. She also mentioned how outsiders don't immediately get tagged or shamed whereas the insiders are shamed for being born in the industry. She concluded by saying that she doesn't agree with star kid being an insult and called it unfair. She stated:

"So, I think it’s about the individual more than anything else. Outsiders don’t get tagged or shamed as much as insiders. There’s no immediate tag to shame them with, but for insiders, it’s become a ticket term, almost like an insult, which I don’t think is fair."
