Fathers have a unique relationship with their children. They rarely show their softer side but are one of the most emotionally vulnerable people. From tying our shoelaces to dropping us at the bus stop, we all have lovely nostalgic memories with them. From Rishi Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor to Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan, we have seen many celebs sharing an adorable bond with their fathers. Anil Kapoor too had shared an adorable relationship with his late father, Surinder Kapoor. Born in a Punjabi-Hindu family in Peshawar, Surinder Kapoor was invited by his distant cousin, veteran actor, Prithviraj Kapoor to join the Hindi Film industry. He had begun his career as a secretary of actress, Geeta Bali and had later become one of the most successful producers of Bollywood. Surinder Kapoor was honoured with the Shri LV Prasad Phalke award in 2009. Surinder and his wife, Nirmal Kapoor were blessed with four children, Boney Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor and Reena Kapoor Marwah. In 2011, Surinder Kapoor had breathed his last after suffering a cardiac arrest.
On the 95th anniversary of Surinder Kapoor, his son, Anil Kapoor took to his IG handle and shared a monochrome picture of his late father and penned an emotional note for him. Believing that his father lives on in him, Anil wrote, “I like to believe that my father lives on in me. In the lessons he taught us, in the love he showered on us, but most importantly in the values I believe in, that I recognize as his - loyalty, honesty, humility, empathy. Even in that day and age, he trusted his children to find their own voice and their own way, never dictating the direction of their lives or careers. We faltered, we fumbled, we picked ourselves up and brushed the dirt off, never giving up the search for our destinies. What he gave us is what I have always tried to give our children - faith in the power of goodness, dedication to honest hard work and the courage to weather the storms of their lives. Thank you Papa for the memories and the lessons. You live on in our minds and our hearts, today and always!”
On the other hand, Sanjay Kapoor took to his IG stories and shared pictures of Surinder ji. The first was a candid picture of Surinder ji with his wife, atop which, Sanjay wrote, “Happy birthday Dad. We miss you” followed by a heart emoticon. Reposting Anil's post on his IG stories, Sanjay wrote, “Happy Birthday Dad… So handsome” followed by a love-struck emoticon. February 6, 2020, was marked as a special day for the Kapoor clan as a chowk in Mumbai was named after the late film producer, Surinder Kapoor. The Kapoor family including Anil Kapoor, Boney Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor, Reena Kapoor Marwah, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Arjun Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, Shanaya Kapoor and Mohit Marwah had come together to unveil ‘Surinder Kapoor chowk’ in Chembur, Mumbai. Rhea Kapoor, Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor, Khushi Kapoor and Anshula Kapoor couldn't make it to the occasion. The Kapoor clan had happily posed for the camera.
In a throwback interview with Rediff.com, Surinder Kapoor had called Sonam Kapoor a better actor than Anil Kapoor. He was quoted as saying, “I saw Sonam in Saawariya, and the promos of Delhi 6. I think she's a better actor than Anil. Sonam hardly came to Boney's house [when I was living there], so I don't know much about childhood. Boney's son Arjun was studying films in the US. But I don't know what exactly he is studying. Anil's son Harshvardhan has also gone to Los Angeles -- in fact Anil and his wife are in LA for his admissions. I think he wants to become an actor. He was very fat earlier but now, he has reduced a lot. That's why I think he wants to become an actor now.” (Also Read: Navya Naveli Nanda's Now-Public Instagram Exudes Her Love For Nanu-Nani, Amitabh And Jaya Bachchan)
