Anil Kapoor Turns Down Rs.10 Crore Offer Of A Tobacco Ad For A Simple Reason, Says, 'This Does...'

The 67-year-old Anil Kapoor is an actor whose fitness has been awe-inspiring to the world, both with his physical prowess and values. Recently, he has been in the news for having turned down a lucrative advertisement. Each time an advertisement comes to him, Kapoor looks at its health and ethics, and everything else is commercial gain. In his rejection, Kapoor shows genuine concern for promoting the health choices and brands which he believes in.

Anil Kapoor says no to tobacco advertisement

Anil Kapoor turned down a pan masala ad worth Rs 10 crore. He will be seen in a Hindi film soon, along with the likes of Allu Arjun and Kartik Aaryan, who've also politely rejected similar offers. It is because, as he said in his statement, people watch actors more for promoting tobacco products. Stars like Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan were attacked for a pan masala commercial. During a press conference, Shah Rukh apologised to his fans after he signed the endorsements. This gesture of Anil Kapoor demonstrates how celebrities nowadays want to save their public appearance, and thus, they keep on displaying some positive signs instead of just earning money.

Anil Kapoor said multiple brands, including supari and pan masala, offered him a good amount for doing an advertisement of their products. He stated that he dissociates himself from them and tries to mute ads for these products on his end as much as possible. Though he said everyone was entitled to their opinion, it was not as though they were in line with his values and objectives. In his words:

"I have received offers from many brands which I have refused. Like those supari, pan masala brands. I am not associated with those things and I try not to do ads for these things as long as I can. I cannot say who is right or wrong, everyone has their own way of thinking. But this does not fit into my planning."

Kartik Aryan and John Abraham also took a stand against tobacco advertisement

This also works towards the emerging new age actors who focuses on his health as well as social responsibility and we all remember how earlier Kartik Aaryan and John Abraham had taken a stand against endorsing such products. Kartik also expressed that he feels doing ads for supari, which is ethically wrong, so he repudiated a few offers when he inquired about them. He highlighted the impact celebrities have on their audience, most of whom are younger followers and said he wants to lead by example. John's parallel denial speaks to an overarching cultural push within the industry away from brand partnerships that may compromise public health.

Allu Arjun and Junior NTR refuse to endorse tobacco and liquor brands

The South actors have always refrained from promoting tobacco, pan, and liquor brands. Gulte reported last December that Allu Arjun had turned down a brand placement for his next film. For instance, the brand wanted its logo to be visible in all scenes where an actor smoked, drank, or chewed and had offered Rs. 10 crore for this.

However, Allu Arjun was not happy endorsing these products and turned down the offer. However, as soon as Pushpa succeeded, the tobacco company came forward with a television commercial. Junior NTR rejected turning down, stating in one whole video roasted them that he doesn't have a habit of having tobacco and will not support such a thing for money earning, but values are above its commitment over nearness. It shows just how dedicated he is to being a great role model for his fans.
