Annu Kapoor Reacts After Kangana Slammed Him For His Remarks Via Her IG, 'I'm Not Responsible For..'

Kangana Ranaut has been hitting the headlines ever since she won her Lok Sabha seat from her hometown, Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. Right after her glorious win, the actress headed to the national capital to attend a meeting. However, en route to Delhi, Kangana faced a mishap. She was slapped by a CISF official at the Chandigarh airport. This incident caused a huge uproar on social media, with several celebrities and ordinary people reacting to the same. Amongst them was the popular Bollywood actor, Annu Kapoor. However, his remarks did not go down well with Kangana, and she even slammed him.

Annu Kapoor publicly apologised to Kangana Ranaut after she slammed him for his previous remarks about her

On June 22, 2024, Annu Kapoor took to his X (formerly Twitter) account and shared a heartfelt apology to the newly-elected MP, Kangana. In a long note written in Hindi, the actor addressed the latter as his dear sister and mentioned that every woman is respectable and worthy to him, and disrespecting them is out of the question. He further shared that he is not aware of the current happenings in the country as he doesn’t read news or consume content on the internet.

Annu Kapoor discussed that not knowing the laws, rules and regulations of a country could lead to mistakes and punishment, but not knowing about a person or a place can never be a crime. He further emphasised that he doesn’t know who Kangana is, hence, she should not count his remarks on her in the category of disrespecting women. However, Annu Kapoor apologised to Kangana for his remarks and posted this note with the caption:

“I am responsible for what I Speak, and I am not responsible for what others understand. Jai Hind Vande Matram.”

When Annu Kapoor failed to recognise who Kangana Ranaut was and the latter called him out

This incident between Annu Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut unfolded on June 21, 2024, during one of the promotional events of the former’s upcoming film, Hamare Barah. The actor was asked about the newly-elected MP’s slap incident. Annu Kapoor answered the question by asking who is she. In his words:

“Yeh Kangana ji kaun hain? Please batao na kaun hain? Zaahir hai aap pooch rahe hain toh koi bahut badi heroine hongi? Sundar hain kya?”

One of the media persons present at the event informed the actor that Kangana had recently been elected from Mandi. The actor then remarked that she had become powerful and added that Kangana should have taken legal action against the CISF personnel who slapped her. After this, the actress-turned-politician took to her Instagram stories and slammed Annu Kapoor for disrespecting successful women. She penned:

“Do you agree with Annu Kapoor ji that we tend to hate a successful woman, hate her more if she is beautiful and hate her even more passionately if she is powerful? Is it true?”
