During his early days at the iconic National School Of Drama, where he had been a regular performer, Anup met his first wife, Ritu, who was a recent graduate from the imperial institute of Symbiosis in Pune. The two met and formed an instant connection. Being smitten by one another, they fell in love soon and were married in 1999. Within a few years of their marriage, the couple welcomed their first daughter, Zoya in 2004. The family got completed with the arrival of their secondborn, Myra in 2008.

All was going pretty smoothly in their marriage and the couple was about to step into their sixth year of marital bliss, when cracks began to appear in their relationship. Anup’s wife, Ritu was the first one to notice the change in her husband’s behaviour, and suspected it was something to do with an extra-marital affair. Her doubts turned into an alarming reality when one fine day, Anup walked up to her and confessed having fallen in love with veteran actor, Raj Babbar’s daughter, Juhi Babbar.
While this was absolutely shocking, more was to befall on Ritu when Anup clarified that he would not want to take forward the responsibilities of their daughters any more. And with that, Anup even left his home with Ritu and started to live separately.

While their wedding surely met a bitter end in 2010 with their divorce, there was once a moment initially when Ritu was doubtful about Anup’s change of affection. To alleviate her doubt, she had gone ahead and had ordered a detailed copy of Anup’s phone bills, only to learn that a massive number of calls had been made towards Juhi’s phone, indicating that the duo had been hiding their extra-marital relations for quite some time.
Back then, a report by The Times Of India had mentioned:
“Ritu ordered for Anup’s itemized mobile bills. Her fears and suspicions came true when she saw the bills, which clearly spelt that Anup was with Juhi over the phone for a large part of the day. Of course, she confronted Juhi. But Juhi told her that she was with Anup only on the phone”.
After the couple parted ways in 2010, Ritu after a few years had recalled her broken marriage and revealed it was she who had taken the bold step to call for divorce, after learning about being wronged. Revealing how she wanted to move on in life with dignity, and wished to focus on the well-being of her daughters, she mentioned:
“Yes, I have been wronged. My husband’s proximity with Juhi caused problems in my life. But if this is destiny, I wish Anup and Juhi the best in life. I want to concentrate on fortifying a happy future for my daughters with dignity”.

Anup met Juhi when he joined the theatre group in Mumbai called Ekjute. While their meeting blossomed into love, however, it on the contrary sowed the seeds of heartbreak for Anup’s wife, Ritu. While it was mere friendship initially for Juhi and Anup, their feelings for each other intensified particularly when the duo worked closely on Juhi’s mother, Nadira Babbar’s play.
Within months of splitting from his ex-wife, Anup Soni tied the knot with Juhi Babbar in a low-key ceremony in 2011. Interestingly, it was a second marriage for Juhi as well, who was previously married to popular screenwriter, Bejoy Nambiar, and the duo had parted ways within two years of their marriage. Seemingly, this too was a point of similarity between Anup and Juhi, that deepened their relationship. A year later, in 2012, Anup and Juhi welcomed their son, Imaan.
