The incredibly-talented actor, Anupam Kher is one of the most celebrated actors in the history of Indian cinema. The actor debuted in the Hindi film industry in 1984 with Mahesh Bhatt’s film, Saaransh. At that time, Anupam was just 28, and he portrayed the character of a 65-year-old man that left everyone absolutely stunned. Since then, he has never looked back and has a long list of memorable characters that he has played in his numerous hit films. Some of his most notable films are A Wednesday, The Kashmir Files, Khosla Ka Ghosla!, Baby, Special 26, Karma, I Did Not Kill Gandhi and more.
From lifting film awards to receiving Padma Shri (2004) and Padma Bhushan (2016), Anupam has one of the biggest trophy cabinets in the film industry. Not only this, but Anupam has also worked with critically-acclaimed Hollywood filmmakers like Ang Lee, David Own Russell and Anthony Maras. Apart from his excellence as an actor, Anupam Kher is also renowned for his humorous nature in real life. Over the years, we have seen him leaving people in splits with his answers in his interviews and during reality shows. However, one memorable incident clearly explains the kind of comic he is in real life too.

It was in the 90s when critically-acclaimed actor, Anupam Kher decided to stun the entire film industry on the occasion of April Fool’s Day. The actor collaborated with a famous film magazine and posed as the late legendary actress, Sridevi’s sister. As soon as the edition was published and made its way out to the public on April 1, it left everyone in surprise and split, as people couldn’t believe that it was Anupam Kher.
While some suggested that he looked like Rekha, some compared him with Rani Mukerji and everyone was convinced that the lady on the magazine’s cover wasn’t Anupam Kher. However, when the publishers unfolded the truth, it left everyone in immense laughter, and the actor was hailed for how he carried his look and posed like a glamorous diva in the photoshoot.

The iconic actor, Anupam Kher is indeed one of the biggest names in the Hindi film industry. However, things weren't the same as they have been in recent years for him. There was a time when Anupam Kher went bankrupt back in 2004. Once in an interview with the Hindustan Times, he shared how he failed to understand the complexities of finance in life. Sharing how he miserably failed to manage his earnings, Anupam added that he was never a business-minded person and could not understand financial management back in time.
However, courtesy of his acting talent, when Anupam Kher couldn’t get much work in Bollywood, he went to Hollywood and worked in an American series that played a big part in rejuvenating his career. At the age of 68 (in 2023), Anupam still has a lot of big-budget movie offers on his table, which clearly speaks to the kind of mark he has already engraved in the history of Hindi cinema.
