Composer, AR Rahman and his wife, Saira Banu, announced their separation to the world after 29 years of marriage. The announcement left the fans shocked, but something more shocking happened just hours later. Bassist, Mohini Dey, who is part of Rahman's troupe, also took to her Instagram handle and announced her split from her husband. In a joint Instagram post, Mohini and her composer husband, Mark Hartsuch, shared that they will be parting ways.
Mohini Dey and her now ex-husband, Mark Hartsuch, took to Instagram on November 19, 2024, and shared a note announcing the end of their marriage. The note read that with a heavy heart, Mohini and Mark have separated. They further shared that as a commitment to their friends and family, they have made this decision mutually and, from here on out, will remain friends. They shared the reason for their separation as their desire for different things in life. They shared:

"With a heavy heart, Mark and I announce that we have separated. First, as a commitment to our friends and family, this is a mutual understanding between us. While we remain great friends, we both have decided that we want different things in life and separation through mutual agreement was the best way to proceed."
The note further shared that, despite the separation, Mohini and Mark would continue collaborating on their projects. They further requested their fans to honour their decision and support them. The duo concluded the note by saying that they would appreciate it if they were not judged for their decision. The note read:
"We will still be working on several projects together, including MaMoGi and Mohini Dey groups. We have always prided ourselves on working well together, and that will not be stopping any time soon. The big thing we want to wish for is love for everyone out there in the world. We appreciate your support in all of the ways you have given it to us. Please honour the decision we have made by being positive towards us at this time and respecting our privacy. We would appreciate no judgements."
Mohini Dey is a twenty-nine-year-old bass player from Kolkata. Mohini is part of Gaan Bangla's Wind of Change, a Bangladeshi music television series. She has performed with Rahman in 40+ shows worldwide and, in August 2023, released her self-titled debut album.
