AR Rahman and Saira Banu left everyone surprised by announcing their divorce after 29 years of marital bliss. The couple got married in an arranged marriage set-up back in 1995, and it was a few days ago when their lawyer issued a statement to announce the couple's decision to part ways with one another. Following the same, AR Rahman took to his X (Twitter) and announced the news. Moreover, a lot of fake statements have been making rounds, as well as, the trollers also didn't leave a chance to comment, while AR Rahman and Saira Banu clearly asked for privacy. Amid this, the singer took a huge step, and his legal team has recently released a notice.
Recently, AR Rahman's legal team issued a notice hinting towards the slanderers who were behind defamatory content of the music master's personal life. In the notice, it's mentioned that while AR Rahmna and Saira Banu had received support from their fans, several YouTubers and other digital platforms had made up stories based on their own imagination, and it came along with its effect and as a harm of the singer's reputation.
As per the notice, AR Rahman has demanded the removal of such defamatory content within 24 hours, or else, he would file a criminal defamation case under section 356 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, in a way that the liable would be punished with two years imprisonment. AR Rahman even instructed his counsel to lodge a defamation suit against anyone who has contributed to such content.
It was on November 19, 2024, when Saira Banu and AR Rahman's lawyer, Vandana Shah, released a statement to India Today, wherein she talked about the couple's decision to end their marriage. As per her, the decision was taken from a place of pain and agony, and while there's love between the couple, it was because of some issues that they decided to part ways, and as of now, they don't want to bridge the gap between them. Later than that, AR Rahman took to his X (Twitter), and shared that they couldn't hop onto their grand 30th. He also thanked his fans for respecting their privacy in this tough hour. He also created a hashtag for his and Saira's divorce.
AR Rahman and Saira Banu had an arranged marriage, but it was no less than a fairy-tale novel. The singer was the one to ask his mom to find him a suitable bride, as he didn't have time for the same. Well, it was at a shrine where AR Rahman's mom met Saira and went on to ask her hand for her son. It was on his 28th birthday when the singer had a brief meeting with Saira Banu, and following the same, they started contacting each other over the phone. In 1995, the couple tied the knot, and they have three kids.
