Malaika Arora and Arbaaz Khan were termed as one of the hottest couples back in the day. The duo who found soulmates in each other at quite a young age, had called it forever in 1998. They were blessed with their son, Arhaan and everything seemed to go perfectly for the longest time. However, things took an unexpected turn when after 20 years of marriage, Malaika and Arbaaz filed for divorce and were granted the same in 2017. Nevertheless, they chose to co-parent their son, and ever since, the duo has been responsibly fulfilling their parental duties.
Well, both Malaika and Arbaaz have moved on in their lives and are happy with their new found partners Arjun Kapoor and Giorgia Andriani respectively. While Arbaaz has always been shy about revealing much regarding his personal life, he once spoke about his heartfelt attempts to save his then-gradually crumbling marriage with Malaika. Sharing how he did it relentlessly for 21 years and then gave up, he mentioned:
“So that happens in relationships also. I tried for 21 years but I couldn't succeed in one aspect but theek hai. It's alright. Not many people even try that long."

In another of his earlier interviews with Good Times, Arbaaz spoke about his past life and broken marriage, and revealed how unexpectedly things started to change between him and his ex-wife. Sharing how nothing simply worked out between the two, he shared that they had no other option other than to call it quits. In his words:
"Everything seemed fine but it crumbled. Things don’t work out, and it’s only fair that two people who want to take their life in their own hands will take that decision.”
In the same interview, Arbaaz also expressed his true feelings when asked if his faith and trust in the institution of marriage itself ever got shaken, especially after his divorce from Malaika. To this, he had shared he still has faith in it and revealed that one incident in his life has not tainted the entire experience of marriage in his life. He shared:

Malaika and Arbaaz have been such an ex-couple who have parted their ways most amicably without any hard feelings or nasty fights. As mature individuals, they most easily understood that they were no longer meant to be together, and so, they took the step of divorce. Proof of the same was found in one of Arbaaz Khan’s previous interviews, where he called his ex-wife to be the perfect partner one could ask for, but also highlighted how their marriage was imperfect. In his words:
“Human beings would still want (more) and you also have people who say I couldn't have asked for a better woman or a better wife, I am so happy. Yes, those scenarios also exist. But, perfection is something that is a constant thing you need to achieve. It is not that you have achieved it and it's gonna stay. It's everyday hard work. To continue to be where you have to be."
