The legendary screenwriter, Salim Khan, had married Sushila Charak, also known as Salma Khan on November 18, 1964. The couple has four children, Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan, and Alvira Khan. It was in the mid-1960s when Salim helped actress, Helen bag several projects in Bollywood, which formed a great professional relationship between them. In a recent interview, Arbaaz Khan talked about how his father, Salim Khan's decision of second marriage to Helen was difficult for his mother, Salma Khan.
In an interview with the Indian Express, Arbaaz Khan talked about his mother, Salma Khan and shared that it was difficult for her to accept his father's second marriage. However, he also stated that his father, Salim Khan never neglected them. Elaborating on the same, Arbaaz said:

"It was difficult, especially for my mom. We were all quite young then. However, we saw that my father never neglected us or kept us deprived of anything. the relationship was an emotional accident for him. Also, most importantly, it wasn't a frivolous thing for him, he decided to give it full dignity and bring it into his life."

In the same conversation, Arbaaz Khan shared that it was a very complicated situation for all his family members. Speaking about the same, he stated:
"It's not easy to say that these things are normal and it will work. Also, just because one such family can come together, doesn't mean it can be replicated by others. It is not an easy thing having two wives who are cordial and children who are accepting. It's a very complicated scenario and it's tough to answer what, how, and why it all worked out. But in hindsight, I think honesty and integrity made things a little easier for us."
A few days back, Salim Khan graced his son, Arbaaz Khan's talk show, The Invincibles, where he talked about the various aspects of his life. During the show, Arbaaz discussed about his father's love story with Helen. The director opened up about the same and called it an emotional accident. In his words:
"She was young, I was also young. Mera koi aisa iraada nahi tha. This is an emotional accident. Kisi ke sath bhi ho sakta hai."

In a throwback interview with the filmfare, Salman Khan had shared how his mother, Salma Khan was hurt with his father, Salim Khan’s second marriage to Helen. After Salim’s second wedding, Salma had accepted his decision without making an issue. Salman had mentioned that he used to hate how his mother waited for his father to come home.
