Arbaaz Khan made his acting debut in the Hindi film industry back in 1996 with the film, Daraar, in which he portrayed the role of a villain. However, in his recent interview with the Indian Express, Arbaaz left everyone shocked after he revealed that the critically acclaimed director duo of Abbas-Mustan (Abbas Burmawalla and Mustan Burmawalla) offered him the film, Khiladi. The actor had the chance to debut in Bollywood as a hero and could've gained the title of 'Khiladi Khan'.
Unfortunately, due to some reason, Arbaaz Khan turned down the opportunity and stuck to his decision to play a villain's character in his debut film, Daraar. The actor won the Filmfare Award for Best Villain but couldn't continue to strive for success. While on the other side, Akshay Kumar, whose career was going through a major dip, said 'yes' to Khiladi, and it simply saved his career. Not only this, Akshay Kumar got the moniker 'Khiladi Kumar' and became a big movie star in Bollywood.

In his recent interview with the Indian Express, Arbaaz talked about the film, Khiladi and shared that when Abbas-Mustan offered him Khiladi, he had already signed a film with another director. However, the film with another filmmaker couldn't materialise for some reason, and Arbaaz was left with no movie in his hands. He said:
"I was approached by the same directors (Abbas-Mustan) for another film. I couldn't do it because I was signed up with another director. The film was Khiladi. I was offered Akshay Kumar's role. But unfortunately, that other film also didn't happen."
Further, in the same interview, Arbaaz Khan talked about Akshay Kumar and how Khiladi made him a big star in Bollywood. The actor also revealed that when he had no film in his hands to make his debut in Bollywood, Abbas-Mustan once again approached him with the script of Daraar and this time, he said 'yes' to them without any second thoughts. He said:
"Akshay Kumar did the role. The movie became a big hit, and Akshay became a big star. After Khiladi, they did Baazigar, and then they came to me with Daraar because they still felt they wanted me. It was more like a break and money didn't really matter. It was just like a token amount. It didn't matter at that time as it was my debut."
