Did you know there's a term and concept called elopement wedding? The notion of jetting off somewhere secretly to exchange vows, sacking off the guests list and having a no-frill wedding with just the two of you, sounds like a perfect plan, no? But if you go by the filmy perspective, then the elopement wedding will be all about the objection from families. As interesting and filmy as it sounds, it becomes a memory of lifetime for some couples, that they laugh upon reminiscing it years later. Ms. Braganza of B-town, Archana Puran Singh and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge fame, Parmeet Sethi revisited their wedding story on The Kapil Sharma Show. Close to three decades since Archana Puran Singh and Parmeet Sethi had tied the knot, it has been a wonderful journey for the couple with two sons, Aryamann and Ayushmaan. For the unversed, when Archana had met Parmeet for the first time at a party, she didn't want a man in her life because of a failed marriage. Before taking their relationship to the next level i.e., marriage, Archana and Parmeet were in live-in and while their families and society had questioned their relationship due to the age and career difference, they had proved everyone wrong with their strong bond.
28 years later, Archana Puran Singh and Parmeet Sethi reminisced the memories of their wedding on The Kapil Sharma Show. Archana had recalled that to marry Parmeet, she had eloped from her house. Revealing how Archana had forced him to marry her, Parmeet said, “She created such a situation that I had no other option left." Tongue-in-cheek to which, his better-half, Archana retorted, "He’s lying, he proposed to me. But we actually eloped to get married."
Recalling how the pandit ji had asked them if the girl is legally eligible for marriage since they have eloped for the wedding, Parmeet Sethi shared, "At midnight, when we finally found a pandit, he asked us if we were eloping and whether the girl was baalik (of legal age), to which I replied ‘Mere se zyada baalik hai ladki'." Parmeet continued that after hesitation, the pandit had agreed and the couple had exchanged their wedding vows at 11 am next morning. During the lockdown, mostly everyone is spending their maximum time, scrolling social media, digging out throwback pictures to post on the photo-sharing platform and commenting on their friends and partner's posts. Just when the lockdown had begun in March 2020, Archana Puran Singh had also delighted her fans with throwback pictures with Parmeet Sethi. Exuding 'old is gold' vibes, Archana had captioned her post as "Day 2 of #lockdown cleaned out the attic and discovered old (is gold) London street shopping pictures of @iamparmeetsethi and #me, young and madly in love #oldmemories #londondiaries #travelphotography #streetshopping #ilovelondon."
In an interview with Shaadi Times, Archana Puran Singh had explained the beauty of her relationship with Parmeet Sethi and had lovingly remarked, "The beauty of our relationship is that within our similarities, lie our disparities. We both are foodies, though he is a meat eater and I am a staunch vegetarian. We love movies. I like HBO and he prefers Star Movies. We love long drives, and although he loves fast drives, I am fond of long scenic drives. Yet we adjust and compromise on the other's preferences." Parmeet had briefed, "With Archana, I learnt to look at life the way it is, with no pretences. For her a spade is a spade. She taught me that life is all about choices. It's your choices that affect the world around you and it did. When we were in a live-in relation, my family was dead against it, and as I now reflect, I agree that my choice to stand by her was right."
