Arjun Kapoor is basking in the glory of his action drama film, Singham Again. He has had his bits of failures and flops; however, his father was his pillar of strength and shaped his perspective. The actor had faced criticism for his 2019 movie, Panipat and had many box office failures in the past. However, the actor is grateful to his dad, Boney Kapoor, who taught him resilience. Did you know the producer was in debt for four years, after Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja tanked?
Arjun, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, revealed that his dad, Boney, could come out from his setbacks. The actor admired his father for this quality. Arjun, admitted that he had seen what his father had undergone closely. There are a lot of anecdotes about his dad's achievements and how rich he is. The Gunday actor, mentioned that he could not be like his dad, who had a unique personality. He did not fail to mention Boney Kapoor's struggles as a producer with Roop Ki Rani and Choron Ka Raja flopping. Both the films had tanked at the box office. In his words:
"It took him 4 years to repay the debt. He is the kind of person whose biopic will be great. o I have realised that the way he deals with people, I cannot try to be him, that’s his personality. So what he does is very unique. I am (cut) from the same cloth but I am very internal, maybe he is very external, maybe he’ll never ever let things affect him. Whereas I go within myself. I don’t know how he does it, I wish I did, I think it’s commendable."
The Ishaqzaade star also said that his dad is not despondent and that he thinks that they are both cut from the same cloth but circumstantially. However, the Indian film producer had a different upbringing than his son. Arjun quipped:
"I had to deal with emotional punches, he’s had to deal with financial punches. At the end of the day he is a businessman who takes a chance. He is a gambler at heart because he is also a flamboyant creative man.”
The Kuttey star had gone through a low phase because his movie, Panipat, had not panned out the way he had thought. He chose to do the movie, and Ashutosh Gowarikar made the movie. However, luck did not favour the movie. Though, Arjun felt that social media, particularly Instagram had a huge hand in amplifying negative comments. In his words:
"It was also a starting point for a lot of Instagram chatter that was getting created. Till what 2016- 2017 social media didn’t have this prominence. Actually Twitter (now X) had a lot more positivity when it started. You went there to understand…and then it became a mainstream medium and that’s what happened to Instagram also.”
Isn't it inspiring to see Arjun Kapoor learn life lessons from his father, Boney Kapoor?
