The unconventional episode of the most-talked-about show, Karan Johar’s Koffee With Karan aired on television on November 25, 2018, featuring Arjun Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor. Why do we call this episode unconventional? Well, because this once-estranged half-sibling duo who share the same father, is now giving major brother-sister goals to everyone. Initially, the episode was majorly dominated by conversations about their families and the bond that they now share. Boney Kapoor married Mona Shourie Kapoor in 1983 and they have two children, Arjun Kapoor and Anshula Kapoor. Then in 1996, Boney left his wife for Sridevi and they got married in the same year. Boney and Sridevi have two daughters, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor. In a striking resemblance between Boney Kapoor’s two families, just like his first wife, Mona couldn’t see Arjun’s Bollywood debut, Sridevi also could not get to see Janhvi’s big movie debut.
Speaking about the coincidence that he and Janhvi lost their mothers just before their debut films, Arjun shared on Koffee With Karan, “I think, we both, and of course, Anshula and Khushi are included in then I say that we've had our backbones snapped and handed a new life to deal with. So, it's like being handicapped for the rest of eternity but learning how to walk again and deal with perhaps the most amazing life you're gonna get to be an actor, to be loved by the world, to be watched on the big screen is everything and more that one dreams of achieving.”
Further revealing how this coincidence made him bond with Janhvi, Arjun shared, “But you don't have that person that you wanna come back home and share it with and you want to be vulnerable and you want to be normal with. So, now you have to be sorted when you're not sorted at all. I think that is the connection that I had with her the most. I have spoken more to her (Janhvi) about it because we did have this ability to bond over. My heart went out to her because I know how that vacuum feels. It's like I was living it again and my heart used to break every time because it's a bittersweet journey.”
Arjun said, “A moment changes everything, I have been through that moment, I wouldn't wish it for my worst enemy. I and Anshula did everything out of pure honesty knowing that we would have needed somebody at that time. We couldn't have that but that doesn't mean Janhvi and Khushi shouldn't. My mother would have wanted that. If she was alive that's the first thing she should've said is, "Go be there". Don't hold any grudges; your life is too short.” (Also Read: Arjun Kapoor Reveals Why He And Anshula Are There For Boney, Janhvi And Khushi, Post Sridevi's Death)

Sharing Anshula’s reaction when she came to know about Sridevi’s unfortunate demise, Arjun stated, “It took me a lot of courage to ask Anshula, "I think this is the right thing, what do you feel? It was 2 am in the morning and when I told her, the first thing she asked was, "Where are the girls?"”
Making an interesting revelation about their father, Boney Kapoor, Arjun and Janhvi revealed that they have a WhatsApp group called 'Dad's Kids' and Boney Kapoor is the most active member in that group. Janhvi added that their Dad often sends his throwback pics on that group and asks Janhvi, Khushi and Anshula to find a man for themselves who is more good looking than him.
Arjun went on to say, “You know, it’s very funny. He’s learning how to be a father at this age in a very strange way. And to see a glint in his eye that he wants to try, it is very commendable. A man is willing to pick up the pieces and learn and understand all four kids from a different though process and generation almost. And this digital age, just the fact that he is willing to be on WhatsApp available, send images, send photos, pick up the phone. Be active, be available. It’s a lot more than it was six months back.”
Revealing that the youngest one of their lot, Khushi is the most pampered and spoilt one, Arjun said, “Dad loves Khushi. We are just incidental. Dad is partial to her unapologetically, unabashedly and we are all aware of that.”
Arjun Kapoor, in an interview after the release of his first film, Ishaqzaade, had talked about his mother and was quoted as saying, “She was undergoing chemotherapy, losing her hair and taking care of herself. And she had survived all that and celebrated her birthday on February 3 and then suddenly, she collapsed in front of me in my arms on March 25. Her cancer had spread to the brain and even though doctors had told us that she had six months, she died all of a sudden.” (Also Read: Boney Kapoor Talks In Length About Arjun-Anshula's Bonding With Janhvi-Khushi After Sridevi's Demise)
