Arjun Punj-Gurdeep Kohli's Love Story: Awkward First Scene In 'Sanjivani', One-Sided Love And More

Sanjivani was one of the biggest hit of 2002. The medical drama was the first Indian series to talk about HIV. It became a household name, and its cast is well-loved and remembered for their roles. However, there is someone for whom the show meant more than work. We are talking about the star couple, Gurdeep Kohli and Arjun Punj.

Gurdeep Kohli and Arjun Punj met for the first time on the sets of Sanjivani in 2002, and their first encounter was one to remember. The couple had a rather awkward meeting in the very first scene of the show. Gurdeep once recalled their meeting and shared how the scene required her to run into Arjun's arms and cry. She revealed that it was extremely awkward since she didn't know the person in real life, while on the other hand, in the show, it was the return of her childhood best friend.

Arjun Punj's one-sided love was met with Gurdeep Kohli's dislike

For Arjun Punj, it was love at first sight, and being an extrovert, he wasted no time expressing his affection to Gurdeep Kohli. He asked the actress to marry him. However, Gurdeep's feelings were the polar opposite of Arjun's. Gurdeep revealed the same to an entertainment portal and said that initially, she disliked the actor. She elaborated that it was primarily because she hadn't had the time to know him. Gurdeep shared that she wanted to understand Arjun and what he wanted from his life before committing to him.

Arjun Punj didn't give up on his love and decided to take it slow, understanding where Gurdeep Kohli was coming from. They soon became good friends and would often go out for movies. When Gurdeep was asked when she realised she had fallen in love with Arjun, the actress revealed that there wasn't a specific moment as they grew closer because of their similar taste and values as people. For Arjun, it was Gurdeep's compassion which touched his heart, solidifying his feelings further.

Arjun Punj proposed to Gurdeep Kohli once again on June 28, 2006, and this time the actress could not say no. They soon planned a big fat wedding and got married on December 10, 2006, in the presence of their close friends and family. They made sure to keep their families involved in their wedding, getting the love and blessings of all their loved ones. The couple has been blissfully married for almost a decade.

Gurdeep Kohli once shared that love should be arranged because she believed that marriage is not between just two people but a merger of two families with love, respect and trust. So, she felt that love has to be approved and arranged by families. The couple soon welcomed their kids, Meher in 2010 and Mahir in 2015, making them a cute little happy family.
