The 'Nightingale of India', Lata Mangeshkar’s death on February 6, 2022, had shocked the nation, leaving everyone teary-eyed. The 92-year-old singer was admitted to the Breach Candy Hospital in January 2022 after being diagnosed with COVID-19. While battling with COVID, her condition had deteriorated, and she was put on a ventilator. On the morning of February 6, 2022, Lata tai had breathed her last due to multiple organ failure.
From recording songs in 36 Indian languages to being bestowed with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1989, Lata Mangeshkar was the first Indian to perform at Royal Albert Hall, London. Lata Mangeshkar was the pride of India and was cremated with full state honour at Mumbai's Shivaji Park. There's no doubt that the songs sung by Lata Mangeshkar will always remain in our hearts and minds. As the nation is recovering from the loss, her sister, Asha Bhosle is the one deeply affected by her demise.

Actress, Padmini Kohlapure is the great-niece of Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle. Padmini’s grandmother and Lata’s father were siblings. In an interview with Pinkvilla, Padmini revealed that the legendary singer’s death has affected her younger sister, Asha, and she has broken down with agony. Talking about Asha Bhosle’s condition and how they all are dealing with the loss, Padmini said:
"She is broken down. As much as death is the hardest truth or fact, we really felt that nothing is going to happen to her and she is always going to be with us. We are all shaken."
On February 7, 2022, Anupam Kher had shared a photo with Asha Bhosle from her residence after Lata Mangeshkar’s death, on his IG handle. He had shared a monochrome picture of them as they were sitting together and he had held her hands. Asha was seen smiling at him, however, in his caption, he had mentioned the sadness in her eyes. He had written:
“"It is often the biggest smile hiding the saddest heart!" I could feel #Asha Ji's sense of loss of her beloved sister through her sad smile! For me too it was thereputic to talk to her about #LataDidi. We shared some smiles and some tears.“

While mourning the loss of her sister, Asha Bhosle had taken to her Instagram handle on February 7, 2022, and had shared a rare picture of her childhood days with her sister, late Lata Mangeshkar. In the priceless monochrome picture, while Asha Bhosle could be seen sitting on a pedestal and giving a cute expression to the camera, on the other side, Lata Mangeshkar could be seen standing beside her little sister and posing for the lens. Along with this picture, Asha Bhosle had penned a line from one of her iconic songs, Bachpan Ke Din, in the caption, and it could be read as:
“Bachpan ke din bhi kya din the. Didi and I.”
