Asha Parekh is one of the most legendary actresses of Indian cinema. The diva has redefined beauty, merit and charisma manifold with her stunning personality. One of the finest actresses, she has done more than 85 films across four decades, which are hailed no less than classics by the cinema lovers to date. Films like Teesri Manzil, Kati Patang, Love In Tokyo, Caravan are still an inspiration for many. Recently, the actress walked down the memory lane and recalled a startling and rather unheard anecdote from her childhood.
In an interaction with Annu Kapoor on the show, Suhana Safar, Asha Parekh walked down the memory lane as she talked about her mother and freedom fighter, Sudha Parekh. The actress revealed how the latter bravely plunged into a freedom struggle, despite the fact she had once previously been jailed by the colonial powers. Moreover, she was also pregnant with Asha at that time. Asha mentioned that it was because of her uncle, who called back her mother while lying that her father-in-law summoned her. Knowing that Sudha won't refuse to come back when an elder called her back, Asha’s uncle ensured the safety of her sister and her then-unborn child. Narrating all about it, Asha Parekh mentioned:
“It was then that I was born at home. If my uncle had not got my mother released, I might have been born in jail.”

In one of her older interviews, the diva had spoken up about that point in her life and mentioned:
“It is lonesome. On the top you are always lonely. I was very lucky I had lovely parents with me. My mother was the backbone of my career, my life. So after losing her, I got into depression. It’s a huge relief that the phase is over.”
Despite being one of the top-notch actresses with a perfectly enviable career as well as breathtaking looks, Asha Parekh never got married. Even at the age of 81, the actress has beautifully redefined the notion of bachelorhood and is happily single. In her autobiography titled The Hit Girl, Asha Parekh talked about the idea of love in her life and mentioned that the only man she ever fell in love with was her director, mentor and producer, Nasir Hussain. She explained:
“Yes, Nasir Saab was the only man I ever loved. It would’ve been worthless to write an autobiography if I didn’t write about the people who mattered in my life. I was never a home-breaker. There was never any ill will between me and Nasir Saab’s family. In fact, I was so happy to see Nusrat (Hussain’s daughter) and Imran Khan (grandson) at my book launch. I feel I’ve lived my life decently, and without hurting anyone.”
