Ayushmann Khurrana's underdog story, from an aspiring actor with no filmy background to now being one of the industry's most versatile actors, has won hearts time and again. However, the  Vicky Donor actor has also proved himself worthy of the love showered on him with his humble and down-to-earth personality. Recently, Ayushmann, who is currently busy touring the US with his band, Aayushmanbhava, opened up about his father's parenting style. He also elaborated on how his own approach differs, and let's just say he sets a fine example for all dads out there.

Ayushmann Khurrana opens up about his dictator father and childhood trauma

Ayushmann Khurrana recently sat down for a chat on the Honestly Saying Podcast. During the same, the actor opened up about how his dictator father treated him. Revealing that his parenting style was entirely different from his father's, Ayushmann said:

"I'm a completely different father. Mine was a dictator. Getting beaten with chappals, belts, etc… were par for the course, and of course, there was childhood trauma."

Ayushmann also narrated one particularly distressing incident when he was beaten up for something he didn't do. Recalling a time when his father had assumed he had been smoking, which wasn't even true, the actor said:

"One day I was returning from a party, and my shirt smelled of cigarette smoke. Now, I never touched it because of the fear of my father. But I still got beaten up for it."

On the same podcast, Ayushmann Khurrana talked about his journey as a parent, which started at a young age. For the unversed, the actor was already a proud dad to a beautiful baby boy at the young age of 20. 

Ayushmann, thus, stated that he and his wife, Tahira Kashyap, evolved together as parents over time due to their young age. The Dream Girl actor also opened up about how becoming a girl-dad two years after his son's birth had changed him. In Ayushmann's words:

"The best part is that I have a daughter. You become a better person. Daughters teach you to be more empathetic."

Ayushmann Khurrana says Tahira helped evolve from growing up amid patriarchy to being a feminist

During the Honestly Saying Podcast, Ayushmann also spoke about his relationship with his wife and long-time partner, Tahira Kashyap. He adorably credited his wife for the positive changes in his personality, stating that if he could call himself a feminist now despite his patriarchal upbringing, it was because of her. 

On that note, Ayushmann stated that choosing your partner was the most important decision in life. According to him, the right partner would help you reach new heights. However, the wrong one could ruin everything. Ayushmann further elaborated that the key to any good relationship was a strong foundation of friendship. The actor firmly stated that if partners enjoy spending time together, they are 'sorted.'
