Since ancient times, Karwa Chauth is one of the most sacred fasts kept by married women. According to folklore, wives keeping this fast has fought death to safeguard their husbands' lives. The nirjala vrat kept by a married woman is itself a prayer for the longevity and well-being of her love. While earlier this festival was kept by the women, men are now breaking the traditional norms and accompanying their 'dear wives'. And thanks to the Tinseltown celebrities, this trend is gaining a lot of applauds. (Recommend Read: Angad Bedi Feels Mehr Is Not Growing Up Like Her Mom, Neha Dhupia, Shares 11-Month Birthday Post)
Last year, Ayushmann Khurrana had made headlines when he had kept Karwa Chauth fast for his wife, Tahira Kashyap, who was diagnosed with Stage 0 breast cancer. As an adorable gesture for her good health, he kept the fast and even he had gotten the initials of her name written in mehendi on his palm.
This year, too, Ayushmann continued the Karwa Chauth ritual and kept Karwa Chauth for Tahira as she is still on medication and cannot keep the fast. However, the two are in different countries, yet it didn't stop them to celebrate the festival together. Tahira took to her Instagram handle and posted a video of Ayushmann breaking his fast on a video call. Along with it, she wrote, "Embarrassing you further @ayushmannk. Our #Karvachauth moment! While I am in Dubai for an event, my certainly better half keeps a fast for me on his set! (p.s I am still popping some pills so couldn't fast) But how adorable are you Mr A Our #karvachauth moment! While I am in Dubai for an event, my certainly better half keeps a fast for me on his set! (p.s I am still popping some pills so couldn’t fast) But how adorable are you Mr A ! Love you so much #fastinghusbands thank you @shrutiv11 for capturing this moment!" Take a look at it below:
Ayushmann is enjoying his superstardom, but the down-to-earth actor values the price he has paid for this success. In an interview with the IANS, the actor had stated, "I hardly get time with my family anymore. I was in Bombay for a couple of days but I hardly spent time (with my family). Living out of a suitcase is not easy. It makes life difficult." (Also Read: Madhuri Dixit Celebrates 20th Wedding Anniversary On Karwa Chauth, Hubby Sriram Nene Shares Pics)
In a 2017 interview with the Mid-Day, Ayushmann had talked about his wife, Tahira and how she has been his constant pillar of support. He had said, "When I got married, I had no money. Tahira has been doing better than me professionally for the longest time. She was gutsy enough to marry a man just for love and have faith in his talent. She is a rockstar; she was a professor, had her own PR firm in Chandigarh. She was also the programming head of a radio station in Punjab."

He had further added, "She supported me in every possible way. I was a struggling actor, which is often a gamble. But there was never any ego between us. When there's love, there's no scope for ego. Most men in India aren't secure enough to be comfortable with such an arrangement. It comes with the family. It depends on how your father treats your mother. But a man, no matter where he comes from, could always trigger a change. If it's a patriarchal family, the dynamics are different. In my case, Tahira became the daughter in a household that had none."
In another interview, Ayushmann had shared the other of fame which had affected his family life. He had shared, "After the first film, our personal life was affected. I had no time for my family. You begin to feel big, your ego swells. Then I got back on track. It’s great to see both sides in these five years. The highs and the lows. Personally and professionally, it has made me balanced. It gives you a better perspective of life. Honestly, had all my films been successful, my wife would have left me. I would have been a different person. She has been with me through thick and thin. That is why we are together. Of course, you do get attracted to people. But your core needs to be right. The belief that you are with this person for a lifetime and you have to be with the family. That is the only thing, which will last forever." (Don't Miss: Neeti Mohan Wore The Replica Of Anushka Sharma's Delhi Reception Saree On Her First Karwa Chauth)
