Mohammad Babar Azam, better known as Babar Azam is one of the most prolific batsmen in world cricket. He is the no. 1 ODI batter in the world at the moment and has tons of records to his name. The captain of the Pakistan cricket team, Babar Azam is also the world no. 3 batter in T20Is and no. 4 in Tests.
The right-handed top-order batsman, Babar Azam plays for Peshawar Zalmi and Central Punjab in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He was also a member of the team that lifted the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy, which was the first-ever trophy for the Pakistan cricket team. The cricketer was born on October 15, 1994, into a Punjabi Muslim family in the Walled City (The historic core of Lahore).

Right from an early age, Babar Azam became interested in cricket like almost every kid in Pakistan. However, due to the fact that his cousins were cricketers in the Pakistan cricket team, Babar Azam was quite serious about cricket right from the beginning and wanted to play for his nation.
For the unversed, Babar Azam is the cousin of iconic Pakistani cricketers, Kamran Akmal, Umar Akmal and Adnan Akmal, better known as ‘Akmal Brothers’. From being a ball boy at the Gadaffi stadium to becoming one of the most lethal batsmen in world cricket, Babar Azam indeed came a long way.

It was back in 2009 when the under-19 Pakistan cricket team took part in a tri-series against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh when Babar Azam took centre stage for the first time. During the series, Babar Azam introduced himself to the world of cricket in style, as he scored 213 runs in just four matches. The cricketer was just 15 years old when he was smashing boundaries against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, averaging 53.25 runs per match.
It was in April 2021 when Pakistani cricketer, Babar Azam replaced Indian batsman, Virat Kohli as the World’s No. 1 ODI Batsman. Virat was at the top for 1258 days, but it was Babar’s match-winning innings against South Africa in the third ODI that made him dethrone Virat Kohli from the throne of World’s No. 1 ODI Batsman.
The cricketer scored a total of 228 runs against South Africa, making him the World’s No. 1 ODI batter. Babar Azam became only the fourth Pakistan cricketer after Zaheer Abbas, Javed Miandad and Mohammad Yousuf to attain the first position as the World’s No. 1 Batsman.

Babar Azam is one of the most eligible bachelors in Pakistan. The famous cricketer isn’t dating anyone at the moment if the reports are to be believed. However, back in July 2022, reports were rife that Babar Azam got married to his cousin, Nadia. The news broke on the internet, and the cricketer’s massive fanbase was in absolute shock as Babar and Nadia’s wedding reports came out in public out of the blue.
In the beginning, people started believing in their wedding reports, as the cricketer’s wedding was a hot topic among the citizens of Pakistan for some time. However, soon, it was revealed that the reports were completely baseless. Even in an interview with a news portal, Babar Azam admitted that he wasn’t married and he had given responsibility for his marriage to his parents. He said:
"I do not know when I will be getting married. My family knows (will decide) about it."
In August 2023, Babar Azam’s wedding was once again in the headlines after some sources claimed that the Pakistani batsman was all set to get married in November 2023. The reports speculated that Babar was expected to tie the knot after the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023.
However, the cricketer soon smashed the reports by sharing the screengrab of a tweet from Saya Corporation, his management company. The tweet denied the speculations around Babar Azam’s marriage, which was reportedly slated to happen in November 2023. The tweet could be read as:
"The earth-shattering news of Kaptaan Babar Azam's wedding in November is completely fake. In fact, this is a ‘news’ for even him and his family. Kindly avoid sharing the unverified news. Thank you."

The World’s No. 1 ODI Batter, Babar Azam has so many records to his name, as he is one of the highest-scoring batsmen in world cricket. However, there are some records that speak volumes about his batting prowess.
Some of Babar’s most famous records include the most runs in an ODI series by a captain (1454), most hundreds in an ODI series (6), fastest to 5000 runs in just 97 ODI matches, most player of the series awards in T20Is (5), and so on.
