Badshah Supports Diiljit Dosanjh Amid Controversy Of Alleged Promotion Of Alcohol In His Songs

Diljit Dosanjh has been entertaining his fans with his Dil-luminati tour in India. The issue came to light when the Punjabi singer was performing in Ahmedabad and, in a funny manner, took a dig at the Telangana government's notice. Diljit was instructed not to promote songs on alcohol, violence, and drugs in his concert. News anchor Sudhir Chaudhary, also challenged him to sing songs without mentioning alcohol and create them as hits. Now rapper Badshah, has shown support to the Punjabi singer amid his alcohol-themed songs and has also slammed double standard folks.

Badshah slammed people who targeted musicians in India and pointed out that liquor is sold to everyone in India. In an interview with Sahitya Aaj Tak, Badshah mentioned he agreed with Diljit's recent comment that he would stop singing alcohol-related songs the day when liquor shops get closure in the nation. The Naina singer, Diljit, had to make these comments when he was told not to sing songs that preach about alcohol in his concert. Badshah thinks of Diljit as his elder brother and says that an artist, through music, reflects upon the happenings in society. In his words:

"He is totally right. You are telling him not to sing or make songs about alcohol but then you're selling liquor everywhere. Why shouldn't they be made? An artist represents society and that's what makes them relevant and the reason why people love them. They speak about things that the whole world wants to say."

Diljit, in his Gujarat concert, posted a video on Instagram where he said that he declared a dry day wherever his shows are and that he will refrain from alcohol-related songs. It's easy for him to tweak his lyrics. He did not directly take the name of Sudhir but said that he was challenged to create songs without alcohol and make them hits. In his words:

'Diljit vs this, Diljit vs that', main bata du aisa kuch nahi hai. Mera kisi se koi muqabala nahi hai. I receive a lot of love from everywhere. For your kind information sir, Born To Shine, Kinni Kinni, GOAT, Naina, Lover... mere bahot saare gaane hai jo Patiala Peg se bahot zyada hit hai. Aapka challenge toh bekaar ho gaya."

Diljit Dosanjh does not support his alcohol-centric songs

Diljit also said he is not defending his songs but wants to say if his songs have to be censored, then the censorship should be on Indian cinema as well. This is because he feels there is no big actor who has not done an alcohol song or scene. Censorship should also be in films. Everyone thinks singers are soft targets, but that's not the case, Diljit also said. He also added that his work is not cheap and that his movies have received National Film Awards as well. Diljit quipped:

"It's very easy for us to run a disclaimer that alcohol is injurious to health during concerts and sing songs, but then it will look like we are targetting someone. So, if you have spread fake news, I challenge you to run the correct news. I am not at all angry with anyone."
