Blackpink is one of the most successful girl bands in South Korea and globally. The band was formed on August 8, 2016, and this year marked their seventh anniversary. Blackpink is known to rule the billboard charts and the hearts of their fans. However, their recent update indicates a split, and it has left their fans, blink sobbing.
For the unversed, Blackpink is a popular South Korean K-pop girl band, formed by a South Korean agency, YG Entertainment. The band features four leading group members, Rose, Jisoo, Lisa and Jennie Kim. The band is the only K-pop band to have performed at the Coachella music festival. Blackpink enjoys a massive fan following, and their fans are called ‘Blinks’.

As per recent reports from Koreaboo, Lisa, Jennie, and Jisoo have decided to split from YG Entertainment, which leaves only Rose to be the one to continue with their home agency. On September 21, 2023, South Korean media outlet, Sports Seoul reported that Rose has renewed her contract with YG Entertainment, and the other members are likely to sign with different labels.
YG Entertainment is reportedly still negotiating the contract with the other members and trying to bring Blackpink together. They have even negotiated to promote Blackpink as a group for six months in a year in the renewed contract. Talking about contract renewal with Blackpink, YG Entertainment further stated:
“Nothing has been decided. We are still negotiating.”

As per reports from Koreaboo, Lisa is all set to sign a contract with an American agency offering Lisa numerous advantages. Not only will Lisa have complete copyright of her own songs, but she will also get the chance to explore other media sectors, like videos, content, fashion and more. The amount of the American contract is said to be around USD 38 million.
