There’s no denying the fact that Deols have entertained the industry for decades, and even today; they continue to do so. From Dharmendra starting everything and making a name for himself right from scratch to his kids, Sunny Deol, Esha Deol Takhtani, and Bobby Deol, taking the name of their family to a whole new level, they’ve clearly given so much to the Hindi film industry. Not only this, even the third generation of Deols is set to take the legacy of their fathers and forefathers to the next level.
However, it was never an easy task for the Deols to make a place for themselves when the industry was dominated by Kapoors, Khans, Chopras, Khannas, and many more. Back in 1960 Dharmendra made his acting debut in the Hindi film industry with the film, Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere and decades later in 2023, his son, Sunny Deol, announced the sequel, Gadar 2, of his iconic film, Gadar. The actor known for his romantic looks did a tremendous job in portraying the evil character of 'Baba Nirala' in Prakash Jha’s series, which is all set for the release of its fourth season (finale) in 2023. So it is quite clear that the Deols are in no mood to bid farewell to the big screen as they’ve still so much to offer to the audience.
However, it wasn’t a cakewalk for Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Abhay Deol, Esha Deol Takhtani to get out of the shadow of Dharmendra, who is still regarded as one of the greatest actors of all time. Such was his aura that even legendary actor, Dilip Kumar had also confessed during an award function that he had never seen a person more handsome than Dharmendra. Apart from his looks and dramatic voice, it was his unique acting style that set a benchmark so high that even today, there are hardly any actors, who can replicate such charisma and presence that he has on the big screen.
