It was in August when the first season of Aashram, directed by Prakash Jha was released and Bobby Deol was highly praised for his performance as the cunning 'Kashipur Wale Nirala Baba'. When things weren’t well in Bobby’s professional life, he had taken a risk with Aashram and it was his gripping performance that had kept everyone hooked. Bobby aced his poker-face expression in the web series and by the end of the show, the audience had hated his character which was a mission accomplished for Bobby as an actor. Bobby had given a wonderful performance as a ‘Godman’ in season one and now that season two is released, the audience is excited to see him as a ‘conman’.
The much-awaited second season of Aashram was released on November 11, 2020, and in an interview with The Times of India, Bobby Deol revealed his family’s reaction to the web series. When asked how did his sons, Aaryaman and Dharam reacted to the web series, Bobby retorted, “I think they all love my work. They all enjoyed the web series and they also felt a lot of actors in it were very good. It’s just that my younger son told me that Papa I don’t like that papa from Aashram I like you.” Revealing who is his biggest critic, Bobby continued, “My wife is a very honest critic. She tells me honestly when she feels what she feels. She is not harsh, she is just blunt and honest. I think that’s something that keeps me grounded because I don’t get carried away because I always listen to what she says. Even my sons, my older son whenever he talks about something, I try to figure out what this young generation looks at work you know. So, I keep all those things in mind.”
To give you a brief of Bobby Deol’s personal life, he had seen the love of his life, Tania Ahuja at an Italian cafe in Mumbai and had lost his heart to her. After Tania had agreed to go on a date with Bobby and love blossomed between them, he had proposed his ladylove at the same café where he had first seen her. In 1996, Bobby and Tania had tied the knot and had embraced parenthood for the first time in 2002 and again in 2004. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Bobby Deol had spoken about the rough phase of his life i.e., a career slump that lasted several years, how he had started pitying himself and had turned to alcohol. Bobby had said, “When you pity yourself, you will start cursing the world around you. That is what happened with me for two-three years. I started pitying myself and thought that no one wants to work with me, so I relied on alcohol. I started numbing myself and then one day I realised where I was wrong when I saw it in my kids’ eyes that our father stays home all day long. I saw the same emotion in my mother and wife’s eyes too, so something in me changed and I realized that if I want to move forward, I cannot wait for someone else to do it, I will have to walk myself. That is when I started working on myself and I have been so busy in the last two-three years.” (Also Read: When Boney Kapoor Confessed His Love For Sridevi To Ex-Wife, Mona Shourie And Admitted His Obsession)
