Bollywood films always portray a dreamy love story, where a handsome hero does everything possible to win over his lady love. From action, suspense, drama, emotions, songs and dance, a typical Bollywood flick has all the ingredients to weave a perfect fairytale love story. Be it ‘Ram’ and ‘Leela’ in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film, Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela or ‘Gurukant’ and ‘Sujata’ in Mani Ratnam’s film, Guru, each love story had a magic of its own.
However, what happens when the on-screen love story turns into everlasting off-screen love? It becomes an iconic saga of togetherness, a bond of a lifetime. From Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt, to Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, here’s a list of some B-town celebs, who fell in love on the sets and became reel to real-life partners.

Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor are the millennial couple in the glamour world. It was Alia, who had confessed about her crush on Ranbir Kapoor on Karan Johar's chat show, Koffee With Karan and had also shared her wish to marry him. And, it seems like destiny had played its card by bringing Alia and Ranbir together for Ayan Mukerji’s film, Brahmastra.
In 2017, while shooting for Brahmastra, love had blossomed between Ranbir and Alia and the two had fallen head-over-heels. There were a lot of speculations about their love story. However, in May 2018, the duo made a stunning appearance at Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja's wedding reception, making their relationship public. On April 14, 2022, Alia and Ranbir tied the knot in the presence of their close ones.

Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone are an epitome of couple goals. When the duo was cast opposite each other in Goliyon Ki Raslila: Ramleela, no one had thought that movie would be the beginning of a wonderful love story. It was during the shooting of the film when Cupid struck them with its sharpest arrow.

As per a crew member of the film, the chronicle of Deepika and Ranveer had begun when the two had set the screen on fire with their passionate kiss in the song, Ang Laga De. Talking about the same, the crew member had said:
"It was new love- euphoric and maddening. They'd call each other baby, eat together, and disappear into their vanity vans when not shooting."
After dodging the rumours of their relationship for more than half a decade, Deepika and Ranveer had begun their forever journey by taking their wedding vows as per Konkani and Sindhi on November 14-15, 2018.
It was during the shooting of a shampoo commercial when Anushka and Virat met for the first time. During a 2019 interview with American sports reporter, Graham Bensinger, Virat recalled his first meeting with Anushka and his nervousness during the shoot. Talking about the same, Virat had said:
“The first time I met her I was very nervous and that’s why I cracked a joke because I didn’t know what to do.”
However, gradually they became friends and love blossomed, but the duo never went public about their relationship. However, it was on the spectacular night of December 11, 2017, when Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli had taken to their Instagram and posted two dreamy pictures from their Italy wedding, officially announcing their wedding to all their fans. Ever since then, the duo is enjoying their married life with their daughter, Vamika Sharma Kohli.
During the shooting of Fukrey, ‘Bholi Punjaban’, Richa Chadha met ‘Ali bhai’, Ali Fazal and the two became good friends. There were rumours that the two are dating each other. The same was confirmed during the Venice Film Festival in 2017 where Ali’s film, Victoria and Abdul was screened, and Richa had flown all the way to be by his side. And now the lovebirds are soon going to tie the knot.
Bipasha Basu had met Karan Singh Grover on the sets of their film, Alone. Their sizzling on-screen chemistry paved the way for their off-screen love and during the course of shooting, the two had fallen head-over-heels in love with each other. On April 30, 2016, Bipasha and Karan had begun their ‘happily ever after’ after tying the knot in a traditional Bengali ceremony.
Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Kemmu had first met on the sets of the film, Dhoondte Reh Jaaoge. It was only after their second film, 99, that they started having feelings for one another. In 2014, Kunal proposed Soha and she said ‘yes’. In 2015, Soha and Kunal got married and now, they are proud parents of a baby girl, Inaaya Naumi Kemmu.
Kareena and Saif’s love story had brewed on the sets of their film, Tashan. Saif had proposed to Kareena in Paris and after dating for five years, the two tied the knot in 2012. They welcomed their first child, Taimur Ali Khan in 2016 and completed their family with the arrival of their second child, Jehangir Ali Khan in 2021.
Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai officially met for the first time in 1999 for the photo shoot of their film, Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke and became friends. Abhishek and Aishwarya had developed feelings for each other during the shooting of their film, Umrao Jaan.

It was after the premiere of the film, Guru, in Toronto, when Abhishek Bachchan proposed to Aishwarya Rai in New York, and she immediately accepted his proposal and they got married in 2007. Abhishek and Aishwarya welcomed their daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan in 2011.
Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna had met each other during a shoot for Filmfare magazine, in Mumbai, where he developed an instant crush on her. However, it was actually during the shooting of their film, International Khiladi, when the two had fallen in love with one another. Twinkle had developed an interest in Akshay as a rebound from a failed relationship.
Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna tied the knot on January 17, 2001, in an intimate ceremony. The power couple is parents to two adorable kids, Aarav and Nitara.
Genelia D’Souza had met Riteish Deshmukh for the first time for the test shoot of their debut film, Tujhe Meri Kasam. With a preconceived notion about him for hailing from an influential family, Genelia didn’t bother to interact much with him.
But during the shooting of the film, the two had fallen head-over-heels in love with one another. After dating each other for nine years, the two tied the knot and are now parents to two adorable boys, Riaan and Rahyl.
Kajol and Ajay Devgn had met each other for the first time on the sets of their 1995 film, Hulchul, and Ajay didn’t like Kajol at all. However, with time, the two became friends and started dating after spending some time together. The couple had dated each other for four years but never told anyone about their relationship.
In 1999, Kajol and Ajay got married in true Maharashtrian style in a private ceremony. Together they are proud parents to Nysa and Yug.
Although Amitabh Bachchan had first met Jaya Bachchan at the Pune Film Institute in 1970, it was on the sets of their film, Guddi, when they formally met each other. It was only the sets of Ek Nazar, when love brewed between the two. After being head-over-heels in love with each other, Amitabh and Jaya tied the knot in June 1973 in a hush-hush ceremony.
They are proud parents of Abhishek Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan, doting grandparents of Navya Naveli Nanda, Agastya Nanda and Aaradhya Bachchan and parents-in-law of businessman, Nikkhil Nanda and actress, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
The yesteryear superstars, Hema Malini and Dharmendra, fell in love with each other in the year 1970, on the sets of Tum Haseen Main Jawan. At that time, Dharmendra was already a married man with kids, however, he couldn’t stop himself from falling for the ‘Dream Girl’, Hema.
After a lot of wooing, Hema agreed to marry Dharmendra but before their marriage, they both decided to convert to Islam, since Dharmendra’s first wife, Prakash Kaur, did not want a divorce. Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor met for the first time during the shooting of their film, Zehreela Insaan, however, it was only after a string of films like Kabhi Kabhi, Khel Khel Mein and Amar Akbar Anthony, that love blossomed between the two.
After dating each other over a brief period of time, Rishi proposed to Neetu and the duo got married on January 22, 1980. Soon the couple became parents to two adorable kids, Riddhima Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor.
Saira Banu and Dilip Kumar’s love was nothing less than a fairytale. Saira was head-over-heels in love with Dilip Kumar right from the age of 12. Saira Banu’s mother, Naseem Banu played Cupid between the two and introduced them to each other. After falling in love with her, Dilip Kumar proposed to her for marriage, which she accepted instantly. Saira was just 22 when she got married to 44-year-old Dilip Kumar in 1966.
