It was February 24, 2018, when everyone was left shocked when they learnt of Sridevi’s sudden demise due to accidental drowning in Dubai. In order to commemorate her birthday and her undying legacy, Films Division of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting organised a special screening of Sridevi’s movie, Mr India yesterday. The event was an emotional roller-coaster ride. Boney Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor were present and they couldn’t hold their tears at the event.
A teary-eyed, Boney Kapoor said, “Today this vacuum, this void cannot be replaced but the good wishes and the goodwill that she has left behind is something that we can live with. She is with me, in my memories, with my children”.
Boney also revealed how he fell in love with Sridevi and told the reporters present at the screening, “I fell in love with her when I saw her for the first time on the screen. It was one-sided love since the beginning. I chased her in the sense that I went to Chennai to sign her but unfortunately, she was not available at that time. I was in awe of her, her work”. Talking about her hard work and legacy, the filmmaker further added, “She couldn’t complete her schooling. She couldn’t go to college because she was so involved in her work and she was continuously working, so obviously this will resonate throughout the world. And rightly so. She deserves every bit of the recognition, respect and the tributes which are being paid to her all across the globe”.

Yesterday, Janhvi Kapoor took to her Instagram and shared an unseen picture of her mom and papa, Boney in which she can be seen cuddled in her mom’s arms. Take a look:
Boney Kapoor, a day before Sridevi’s 55th birthday, told Pinkvilla, “There are heroes and then there are legends, heroes get remembered but legends never die. Sri lives with us every day… not a minute goes by when we don’t miss her”.
On her birthday, many Bollywood celebrities took to Twitter to share their wishes for late Sridevi and the one that stood out was Anil Kapoor’s tweet which stated, “A true star that shone brightly on-screen & lit up the lives of everyone she touched. Not a day goes by when we don’t miss you Sri. We see your reflection in #JanhviKapoor & #KhushiKapoor everyday. You live on in our hearts & minds..”.
