Speaking about her stardom in a throwback 1987 interview with India Today, the Hawa Hawai actress had shared, “It doesn't give me a chance to get to know life. Whenever I want a saree or anything, it comes to me. I have never been shopping. But I've got so used to it that even if I get a chance to experience things, I withdraw. I feel very uneasy with anything new. I feel comfortable only with my lifestyle.”
Speaking about her love for sarees in an interview with Verve, Sridevi had shared, “I am very comfortable in saris. South Indians wear them a lot. For us, it is very easy to wear the sari — whether it is a heavy silk or a light chiffon one.” Do you know, who her fashion icon was? The actress had shared, “Maharani Gayatri Devi, for she was very elegant. The way she carried her chiffon saris and pearls was extremely graceful. I remember thinking that I would dress up in the same way, some time in the future. And, if we speak of Western icons, I would name Princess Diana. She was dignified.”
