Boney Kapoor has been one of the prominent filmmakers in Indian cinema. He is credited to have delivered some of the most iconic films at the box-office, including Mr. India, Wanted, Woh Saat Din, Hum Paanch, Judaai among so many others. Despite such a prolific professional life, it is his personal life that has time and again been a part of gossip columns. For the unversed, Boney was earlier married to Mona Shourie, and the duo is parents to their children, Arjun and Anshula. However, a few years later, Boney separated from Mona and got married to Sridevi in 1996. The couple is blessed with two daughters, Janhvi and Khushi.
In one of his older interactions with Komal Nahta, Boney Kapoor reminisced one of the toughest setbacks in his career, when he suffered from a major financial crisis. He frankly remarked that all of it was his own mistake, as he let his passion be driven off by indulgence. Boney stated that it wasn’t unusual for him, since many actors as well as filmmakers in the past, have stumbled upon similar circumstances in their lives. Revealing his key takeaways from that difficult past, he stated:

“It was my mistake so, of course, I was the one who bore the brunt of it. I was stressed, of course, but I was confident that I would pay it all off. It took a little longer but I’ve paid everybody off. Plus, who doesn’t go through such problems? In our industry, everyone from Raj Kapoor to Amitabh Bachchan has gone through ups and downs. It happens, especially, to those filmmakers who are passionate. But the fact is, that they overcame it. I’ve also overcome it, and at the same time, I’ve made up my mind, I’ll remain passionate, but I won’t become indulgent.”

Moving forward in the conversation, Boney Kapoor talked about the impact of his phase of debt in his personal life. The filmmaker revealed that his better half, Sridevi stood like a rock behind him, supporting him immensely whenever he faltered in his steps. Boney remarked how Sridevi trusted him for landing in trouble not by misusing funds, but indeed due to some miscalculations. As he credited his wifey, the filmmaker turned teary-eyed and stated:
“God supported me, my family supported me, and Sri supported me in a very big way. She was like a rock. She understood me. She knew that I hadn’t used the money for the wrong reasons. It wasn’t like I lost money in gambling or anything. I didn’t do anything wrong. And the mistakes I made, I understand them. If you don’t have support from your wife, you’re…”

Talking about the reason behind the same, the filmmaker stated that his beloved spouse was loved immensely for her contributions in the Telugu film industry. Therefore, this small gesture would have been a token of gratitude from the actress’ behalf to her loyal audience all over Tollywood.

Back in an interview with the New Indian, Boney Kapoor delved over his past and revealed how at various points of time, he used to guide his wifey, Sridevi in her career. Not just his better half, but Boney remarked having guided various members of his family in their acting careers, as he found it as his duty. In his words:
“Maine har wo cheez ki hai jo mujhe theek lagti thi. I thought it was my job and my duty, and I did that thinking that I was doing it for myself. If I guided Anil, it was not just for him, it was for us. If I guided Sri, it was not just for her, it was for us.
