While growing up, a girl plans her dream wedding as it is the most awaited day of her life. From the venue, food, music to her wedding attire, everything is planned according to her taste. And no one can complain, because it is going to be her day and she should get whatever she desires. But what if destiny plans something else?
The wedding we are going to talk about today is filled with a lot of emotions. The emotions a bride and groom undergo while planning and executing every detail of their wedding on their own. A wedding, where the couple were the sponsors and managed all the expenses on their own. A moment that turned everything upside down. But as they say, if there is love, nothing can deter one's spirit.

Our bride of the week is Prakriti Dhir, who got married to her best friend on January 14, 2021. Prakriti and her now-husband had been friends for 13 years, and the two had decided to spend their lives as companions. The couple got their wedding date in December 2020 and had just 15-20 days to make all the arrangements. It was the bride, groom and the groom's sister, who had done all the preparations for the big day.
From making invitation lists, selecting the venue, choosing the décor and even making the wedding cards, Prakriti and her then to-be-husband did everything on their own. As they were busy taking care of all the arrangements by themselves, the bride and groom didn’t get any time to pamper themselves. When all the major preparations were done, Prakriti decided to get the much-needed skincare treatment from a nearby salon.

As Prakriti's to-be-sister-in-law, Sarita Mian, was managing the decoration of lights, she had received a call from her brother, informing her about a tragic incident that had happened with Prakriti in the salon. He had informed her that a jar full of boiling water had fallen on Prakriti's face, burning her skin. Shocked by the news, Sarita had rushed to check her.
In Sarita's blog, 'How This Bride Navigated Her Big Day Mishap', she had revealed, "The jar having the steamed water that the woman was using for the bride’s facial had its cap loosely fit. As she was giving steam to Prakriti’s face while in a lying horizontal position, the whole steamed water got accidentally flooded onto her face." Out of nervousness, the parlour woman did not rush to take any immediate action and started mending it on her own.
But it was Prakriti, who didn't lose her calm in this entire fiasco. They immediately rushed Prakriti to a hospital, where the doctor gave her some medication to calm the burning sensation. When the whole incident was under control, the next concern was how will the makeup be done? Will it hide the burn marks? Will it worsen the skin? There were an array of questions, but the makeup artist did flawless makeup, without any traces of burns.
For the wedding, Prakriti had looked gorgeous in her mother's 32-year-old maroon-coloured zari saree. She had accentuated her look with a necklace in green stones, matching earrings, matha patti and a beautiful nath. Her laal chooda had complemented her saree. On the other hand, her groom had looked dapper in a navy-blue coloured bandhgala with a red coloured safa.

It was Prakriti's attitude towards the whole incident that was inspiring. Two days before the most awaited day of her life, what she dealt with could have broken anyone, but instead of panicking, she assured everyone that things were fine. We salute her spirit towards life.
