Bride Rejects Groom Earning Rs. 1.2 Lakh After Jaimala Exchange, For Not Being A Government Employee

Yes, you read that right. A wedding in Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh, turned into a dramatic frenzy when a bride halted the marriage ceremony. According to reports, the bride refused to marry her groom despite his hefty salary of Rs. 1,20,000 per month, after she found out that he works in the private sector.

Bride finds out her groom is not a government employee in the middle of the wedding

It so happened that the bride’s family had arranged her marriage with an eligible bachelor from Balrampur, Chhattisgarh, who’s an engineer by profession. According to the bride’s family, a middleman had claimed that the groom was a government engineer who owned multiple plots of land and lived in rented accommodation in Kannauj. The baraat arrived, and initial rituals like Dwarchar and Jaimala (exchange of garlands) were performed late at night.

While the ceremony was going on in full swing, around 1:00 AM, the bride found out the truth about her groom, that he did not hold a government job but worked in the private sector. The revelation came as a shock to the bride, and she decided to halt the marriage.

The groom, sensing the tension rise, presented his salary slip to the bride and her parents to showcase his monthly income of Rs. 1.20 lakh. Despite the hefty salary, the bride refused to budge, and insisted on marrying someone with a government job. It’s safe to say, none of the guests or family members would have speculated such a firm stance. Both families had to ultimately call off the marriage and come to a mutual agreement regarding the expenses that were made from both ends. No complaint was lodged by either party before they parted ways.

One Redditor wrote: “Whats new; happens all the time. In Bihar, if you have a sarkari job, you can be kidnapped and forcibly married”. Another comment sided with the groom, saying: “If the situation was reversed and the guy had rejected the girl, he would have been arrested under false promise of marriage. Since the girl has rejected, nothing will happen here”. Another user wrote, “why do people lie about their profession? The marriage would have never worked anyway if its based on deception. When will people learn to have some integrity?”
