Known as ‘suhaag ka rang’, red is the colour that is synonymous to brides and Indian weddings. Be it the sindoor, the bindi, the chooda or the bridal lehenga, mostly it is preferred that a bride keeps this colour somewhere in her D-day look. With the constant and phenomenal changes in the wedding trends and brides opting for different ideas when it comes to the most special day of their lives, even the red colour is slowly modifying and vanishing from the wedding. But some modern brides, despite the experimentation and revamp in the wedding trends, have all hearts for the colour red. After all, not everyone can manage to stay away from the unmatched aura of the ‘suhaag ka rang’. Let’s not forget how Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Deepika Padukone had flaunted the colour of red in their bridal lehengas and made our hearts drool over how resplendent they had looked!
Having said that, let us introduce you to a real bride, Priya Birla, who had flaunted her love for the colour red in a classic traditional lehenga and had accentuated it with contrasting jewellery. Priya became a Sabyasachi bride on her wedding with the love of her life, Rajar and the two had tied the knot at Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom. Before we elaborate on Priya and Rajar’s pre-wedding and wedding looks, here’s a sneak peek into their beautiful wedding which is a trailer posted by their official wedding photographers, Sunny Dhiman.
Priya Birla had celebrated her ‘last fling before the ring’ with her girl gang in Mykonos, Greece, Europe. The bride along with her bachelorettes had worn customised t-shirts which had, “The Fancy One”, “The Badass”, “The Foodie”, “The Bubbly One” and such taglines written on the back. Priya Birla and Rajar’s #PRLoveActuLally wedding began with an engagement and a welcome dinner ceremony. For the same, Priya had looked gorgeous in a rose gold-coloured ruffled gown with intricate embroidery on the top. Priya had accentuated her look with a diamond necklace and a pair of earrings. Keeping her makeup minimal just like her jewellery, Priya kept her locks open with a streak of hair tied at the back with a floral pin. Her groom, Rajar had opted for a navy-blue coloured suit. The engagement and welcome dinner was followed by mehendi and sangeet night. And for the same, Priya and Rajar had looked like a made-for-each-other couple in pastel-coloured outfits. For her mehendi and sangeet night, Priya had looked every bit of gorgeous in a yellow-coloured lehenga but it was her floral dupatta that charmed her entire look. Priya’s mehendi and sangeet look was accentuated with side-parted hair curls tied in a messy braid and emphasised with pink and yellow flowers. Rajar, on the other hand, looked dashing in a mint-coloured suit.
Finally, after a series of pre-wedding ceremonies came the day when Priya Birla and Rajar became each other’s forever. Rajar and Priya were pronounced husband and wife in a grand wedding ceremony at Stowe House, Buckinghamshire, England. And the pictures of the bride and groom spell volumes of love! For the D-day, Priya had looked like a vision in her red Sabyasachi lehenga, which overall had intricate embroidery. Her dupatta had heavy work on the border, which she had drawn over her high-tied bun. Priya had accessorised her bridal look with contrasting jewellery which had a pinch of pink and red colour in it. Be it her matha patti, huge earrings, choker neckpiece, maroon-coloured chooda or a simple yet elegant hath phool, Priya had totally made us swoon over her wedding look! Rajar had looked dapper in a white-coloured sherwani with minimal embroidery on it which he had carried off with a shawl and a safa.
Giving a perfect end to their wedding ceremonies, Priya Birla and Rajar had hosted a reception and they were a sight to behold in their first function as Mr and Mrs. For the reception, Priya had looked no less than a princess in shimmery silver, heavily worked upon lehenga with the blouse garnering maximum attention. Her choli had silver tassels on the sleeves and her dupatta was mind-blowing as it was all shimmery and the ends of the dupatta were covered with faux feathers. The tiara on her head, mehendi clad hands and chooda had made her look every bit of royal.
