Paris Olympics 2024 served a complete adrenaline rush to people around the world and kept them glued to the screens for all good reasons. Indeed, the Olympians gave their best performances on the global platform. Thus, here is a list of monetary and non-monetary rewards offered by the Olympians' home countries, including cash incentives and unique gifts like apartments, cars, and lifelong pensions.

Here is how much Olympic athletes receive in dollars for winning medals from their respective country's government

This, in turn, motivates the Olympians to continue on their path towards immense success, and many other individuals are also inspired to embark on their respective journeys. As per National Olympic Committees and multiple reports online, we got to know about the list of countries with the amount of award money these Olympians get for finishing on the podium at the global level. The list is topped by Hong Kong, which provides a whopping amount of USD 768,000 (which equals to Rs. 6,44,84,313) for gold medalists, USD 384,000 for silver medalists, and USD 192,000 to bronze medalists from the country.

Further, Singapore gives USD 737,000-745,000 (Rs. 6,18,81,652- 6,25,53,366 in INR) for gold, USD 368,000-373,000 for silver and USD 184,000-186,000 for bronze. Taiwan gives, USD 716,000 for gold, USD 250,000 for silver and USD 179,000 for bronze, whereas Italy gives USD 197,100 for gold, USD 98,500 for silver and USD 65,700 for bronze. Last on the list is Australia, which gives an amount of USD 13,000 for gold, USD 10,000 for silver and USD 7,000 (which in INR is 5,87,747) for bronze.

Rewards which Indian Olympic athletes receive from the Indian government

There is no such report about the monetary rewards given by the Indian government to its Olympic winners. However, the Olympic athletes receive widespread acclamation from both the government and the national sports body. In addition, the gold medalist Olympians are awarded USD 90,000, which in Indian currency is Rs. 75,56,490. Meanwhile, the Indian Olympic Association provides an additional 10 million rupees to the gold medalists in India.

Non-monetary rewards for Olympic winners from their respective countries

Many countries also offer a variety of rewards to their Olympic winners in addition to monetary rewards. For instance, along with the monetary reward, Kazakhstan's athletes receive 3, 2, and 1BHK apartments for their respective achievements. South Korea gets to choose between lifelong pensions or prize money. In Hong Kong, the public transit operator provides free lifetime tickets to the city's Olympic medalists.

In Poland, silver medalist, Klaudia Zwolinska received a whopping amount of USD 50,374 from the Polish Olympic Committee, along with a painting, a holiday voucher, a scholarship, and a diamond for her performance. Many private companies in Malaysia provide additional incentives such as luxury-serviced apartments or extra cash to the athletes.

Other rewards for the Olympians from various brands of their countries

Olympians have often been gifted unique tokens of appreciation. During the Tokyo Olympics, a local chain in Malaysia even promised free food and Tarik (a popular hot milk tea beverage in Southeast Asia) for life to athletes who represented the country globally. Japanese table tennis player, Kasumi Ishikawa received 100 bags of rice after winning a silver medal at the Tokyo Games. Indonesian badminton and ace gold medalists, Apriyani Rahayu and Greysia Polii were gifted five cows, a meatball restaurant, and a new house.

In contrast to all of this, athletes from countries like Great Britain and Norway do not receive direct cash bonuses or other non-monetary rewards as such for winning medals.
