Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif were ‘a thing’ in the 2010s. Their dating reports had started when they had worked together in the film, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani in 2009. Later, they were spotted vacationing together and their pictures from Ibiza Island had gone viral. However, while working for Jagga Jasoos, the reports of their breakup had hit the headlines. It was because of their ugly breakup that the shoot of the film too had got delayed. They had dated for almost six years before finally parting ways.
Talking about the reason for their breakup, it is alleged that Ranbir Kapoor’s mother, Neetu Kapoor was never in a favour of him dating Katrina Kaif. Everyone knows that Ranbir is a Mama’s boy and his mother’s say in everything matters to him the most. It was speculated that Neetu didn’t approve of his relationship with Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif. It was often seen that Neetu would refrain from showering love on Katrina, and in fact, she had even cropped Kat from a family photo clicked during one of Kapoor’s annual Christmas meeting.

Preity Zinta had made her relationship with the business tycoon, Ness Wadia, official, in 2005. From gala events, matches, to the wedding of Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, Preity and Ness were spotted together everywhere. In 2008, Preity and Ness had bought the Kings XI Punjab team of the Indian Premier League. When everyone was thinking of a fairytale wedding for the couple, their 'too-good-to-be-true' relationship had hit rock bottom.
In 2009, Preity had accused Ness of physical molestation and mental torture. Ness’s mother, Maureen had never acknowledged his relationship with Preity. The first alarming sign in their relationship had come when Ness Wadia’s mother, Maureen, had reportedly said:
“I don't care even if Ness gets married to a zebra.”
Preity and Ness had parted ways in 2009 after Ness Wadia had allegedly slapped her at a party. Owing to a few more unresolved differences, they had headed for splitsville but never spoke about it publicly. Preity is now married to Gene Goodenough, who was once Ness' close friend.

While Karisma Kapoor belongs to the first Bollywood family, Kapoor Khandaan, Abhishek Bachchan is the son of Bachchan parivaar. Not many know but Karisma and Abhishek had dated for almost 5 years before getting engaged. It was at Nikhil Nanda and Shweta Bachchan’s (Abhishek Bachchan’s sister) wedding in 1997 that Karisma and Abhishek had met and came close. Soon, the two had started dating. At that time, Karisma was a big star and Abhishek had not even started his career in Bollywood. In 2000, Abhishek had made his debut with Karisma’s baby sister, Kareena Kapoor in the film, Refugee.
Karisma Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan’s engagement was announced at Amitabh Bachchan's 60th birthday celebration in October 2002. Jaya Bachchan had even introduced Karisma as her to-be daughter-in-law. However, the two families had abruptly called off the engagement, after only four months of the announcement. While they never gave any reason for it, Jaya Bachchan had once revealed that it was solely Abhishek’s decision.
Well, according to several media reports, it was, Karisma’s mother, Babita, who had called off the engagement as Karisma was a star and Abhishek had just started his career. Even Amitabh Bachchan’s financial condition was not that great as he had incurred many losses due to his production company during that time. It was also said that Babita had asked for a prenup in which Amitabh would transfer some of his wealth in Abhishek’s name, to secure her daughter’s future. This demand had not gone down well with the Bachchans and Abhishek had called off the wedding.
While Karisma Kapoor is now a single mother to her two kids, Samaira and Kiaan, on the other hand, Abhishek Bachchan is living his happy married life with Aishwarya Rai and their daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan.
Shahid Kapoor was just 23, and a few films old when he had fallen in love with Kareena Kapoor. In media interactions, while Kareena had claimed that they share a great bond, Shahid had shared that they have extremely different personalities and they fill each other’s empty spaces perfectly. It was during the filming of Jab We Met that the reports of their separation had hit the headlines. However, people had considered it to be a publicity stunt. Well, in 2007, Shahid and Kareena had parted ways, and she had found love in Saif Ali Khan.
While Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor have never revealed the real reason behind their breakup, it is speculated that it was Bebo’s mother, Babita and sister, Karisma Kapoor, who were against her relationship with Shahid. As per a report in MissMalini, it was Kareena Kapoor’s mother and sister, who were not very fond of Shahid and Bebo’s relationship. Although Shahid belongs to a well-known filmy lineage, they had felt that their families do not match and go at par with each other.
The report had also suggested that Kareena Kapoor’s fondness towards Shahid was turning into an obsession as Bebo was then asking all of her directors to cast them together in films. Kareena’s mom and sister, Babita and Karisma too, had reportedly asked the star to focus on her career as they had failed to see Shahid as a rising star. And the rest, as we say, is all history!
Kareena Kapoor is now Kareena Kapoor Khan after her wedding with Saif Ali Khan and they have two kids together, Taimur Ali Khan and Jehangir Ali Khan. On the other hand, Shahid Kapoor is married to Mira Rajput and the couple is blessed with two kids, Misha Kapoor and Zain Kapoor.
Well, in the end, all that we can say is that whatever happens, happens for good. Though these celebrities might have had traumatic pasts and bitter breakups, they have moved on in their lives and that too for good!
