The South Korean entertainment industry has become a global phenomenon with its popular content, including K-pop, K-drama, and K-movies. Known as Hallyu, it has captured the hearts of millions, if not billions, of fans worldwide. Currently, some of the most popular South Koreans in the world are members of the K-pop boy band, Bangtan Sonyeondan, also known as BTS.
While the group, which includes RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, is on hiatus owing to their mandatory military service in South Korea, their fandom, ARMY (Adorable Representative M.C. Youth), is surely not off-duty. Their dedication is still making the K-pop group achieve milestones in their career. Moreover, ARMY is also ensuring that they protect their precious seven boys from any and every mishap.

Recently, the desi ARMY (Indian fans of BTS) took matters into their own hands when, in the Indian dance reality show, Dance Plus Pro, BTS’ choreography was blatantly copied. Nowadays, K-pop dance moves have become excessively popular in India, and The Trend crew is among those who take inspiration from K-pop for their choreography. However, on the show, Dance Plus Pro, the same dance group, who are referred to as the Indian BTS by the show’s judges, copied a few dance steps from some popular songs of BTS without giving due credit.
In their recent performance on the show, the group used moves from BTS's song, Idol. Although The Trend claimed that they were paying tribute to K-pop dance, some fans felt that their performance was a case of outright plagiarism. For the unversed, The Trend dance group hails from Arunachal Pradesh. They call themselves a K-pop-based dance crew on Dance Plus Pro and have incorporated iconic steps from BTS' choreography into their performances.

Desi ARMY has expressed its discontent on social media platforms, viewing the recent performance as blatant plagiarism rather than a tribute, particularly due to the absence of proper acknowledgement. Fans of the show, Dance Plus Pro, who are also supporters of BTS, said that judges Remo D'Souza, Shakti Mohan, and Punit Pathak are turning a blind eye to the same. They felt that earlier versions of the show stressed on originality, and teams had to create their own choreography. But The Trend dance group made their act by combining dance moves of all BTS songs like Idol, Boy With Luv, Fire, Blood, Sweat & Tears, DNA and Permission to Dance.
