The show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is based on Taarak Janubhai Mehta Gujarati column, Duniya Ne Undha Chashma. Jethalal Champaklal Gada and Daya Jethalal Gada have became household names over the years and their chemistry on-screen has glued the audience to their seats. Disha Vakani rose to fame with her character of Daya in the long-running serial, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma and it was her exit from the show that had broken the heart of her millions of fans.
Disha Vakani a.k.a Daya had tied the knot with a Mumbai-based chartered accountant, Mayur Pandya, as per Gujrati traditions on November 24, 2015. She had embraced motherhood in November 2017 with the arrival of her little angel, Stuti Pandya. Disha had taken a sabbatical from the show in September 2017 with her maternity break, which was followed by her two-year break from the show. The audience has missed Daya on the show and was speculating about her return soon. There have been many rumours and speculations about her return date on the show, but none was confirmed by Disha. Now, her husband, Mayur has talked about her return on the show. (Recommended Read: Alia Bhatt Reveals How Beau, Ranbir Kapoor Has Helped Her In Facing The Failures Post 'Kalank')
Disha’s return to the show was much anticipated. Earlier, it was reported that Asit Modi – the maker of the show had said that he is certain that she would be returning to the show but it will take months’ time. Recently, in an interaction with Pinkvilla, Disha’s husband, Mayur revealed the truth behind her return and said, “She has shot for a portion of the episode, but our talks with the makers still remain unresolved. So, she will not return to the show for good. We are hoping that we reach an amicable solution.”
A few months back there were reports of Disha Vakani’s exit from the show, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. According to a BollywoodLife report when they had contacted the show’s producer, Asit Modi, he had texted them by saying, "Can't say about the authenticity of that news. I don't know." He had also talked about Disha’s exit and had said, “Maybe true. I don't know about the final decision. My team is talking with her." There were reports that it was Disha’s husband, Mayur’s interference that had made her comeback difficult on the show.
As per a SpotboyE report, an insider had told the media portal that Disha is welcome but only on certain conditions. Stating the same, the insider had shared that she can't be the 'My Way Or The Highway' types. The source had also revealed that the major differences between producer, Asit Modi and Disha Vakani were created by her husband, Mayur Pandya, who had started interacting with the production house (Neela Tele Films) on his wife's behalf. As per the insider, Mayur feels that Asit is yet to pay Disha some amount and had stated, “Lekin Mayur saab nahin mante. I think he is a CA and only he knows Maths. But those numbers are only his, not ours." Mayur had kept certain conditions in front of the show’s producer which were unacceptable to them. Mayur wants his wife, Disha to work only for 15 days per month, that too only 4 hours per day. The source had shared that these conditions were unacceptable as her maternity leave is over and if she wants to come back, she should be in full spirit.
The insider had asserted, “This kind of interference is difficult to understand. Our show is going well, TRPs without Daya Ben have not been affected. Every other actor is working hard on his/her track and we are converging well. If Disha wants to return to Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, we will have to see if her comeback will justify the show. Plus, it will have to be on terms and conditions agreeable to Disha and Modi both."
Disha Vakani shares a lovely bond with the entire team of the show and everybody was ready to adjust with her. One of the sources from the sets had stated, “We are in touch with Disha to start the shoot. But she has yet not given a nod. Considering her baby is very small, production is willing to be understanding in terms of timing and schedule like we were in the final months of her pregnancy. But she wants to focus more on her personal commitments at the moment. But we are trying very hard to bring her back on the sets asap."
