Deepika’s sister, Anisha had talked about their equation in an interview with The Economic Times and had stated, “We have a five-year age gap, so she is both like a friend and a mother to me. She is very protective of me, like a typical big sister. Though we are close, we only get to meet once every two-three months because of our schedules and how much we travel. Though we don't discuss our work much, I'm a big critic when it comes to her films. I watch all of them and from her initial days, I would tell her what I liked and what I didn't.” We can see the understanding these two sisters hold for each other in their respective hearts. Recently, Anisha celebrated her birthday and it was her sister, Deepika, who light-up the evening for her.
On February 1, 2020, Deepika celebrated the birthday of her beloved sister, Anisha Padukone. Both the sisters were seen twinning in white, with Deepika looking casually stunning in a loose shirt and the birthday girl, Anisha was looking beautiful in a white collared dress. Well, seeing Deepika placing those glittering candles with that wide smile is sister goals for sure. Not many people know this but Deepika shares an extremely strong bond with her sister and had also revealed in a lot of interviews that it was her sister, who helped her battling depression. That was indeed a hard time for Deepika and in an interview with NDTV, she had talked about her fight with depression. She had said, “If I can impact one life in this entire process of speaking up and letting people know that it's something I have been through and something that I could deal with because I had a fantastic support system.”
Anisha Padukone had also talked about the time when her beloved sister was in the clutches of depression and how scared their family was at that time. In an interview with News 18, the professional golfer had revealed “Honestly, it was difficult for me as I had very little idea about mental illness and the role of a caregiver. Coping with mental illness affects both the individuals and members of their immediate family. There was not much information available where I could learn and equip myself to be of help. There were times when I felt helpless. Fortunately for us, my mother noticed something was wrong. We then approached a counsellor, who is also a very close family friend and things worked out.”
Since then, Deepika had talked about mental illness on numerous stages and interviews and how her family helped her in getting out of it. But, right now the actress is enjoying a happy married life with husband, Ranveer Singh. In an interview with the India Today along with her dad, she had revealed that she wants to follow the footsteps of her parents’ married life and had said, “I have seen my parents do it so well and so successfully and for me, that’s the way I would like my married life to be as well. I think they have a beautiful relationship, the way they have managed their professional life and being together as a family and in every way they have set an amazing benchmark for me and my sister and I would love for it to be that way.” (Also Read: Radhika Pandit Shares A Throwback Video Of Her Little Munchkin, Ayra's 'Nail Cutting Session')
