Amid all these, an old interview of Deepika's father and former badminton player, Prakash Padukone surfaced, wherein he talked about marrying his second cousin, who is none other than the actress' mom, Ujjala Padukone.
As per reports, Deepika Padukone's father, Prakash Padukone, once, in an interview, talked about losing the National championship even after being the No.1 badminton player in the world back then. He stated that he lost the game for the first time in nine years and was very disappointed with the same. Well, he revealed getting over this quickly, and understanding that it's just a part of the game. Prakash Padukone went on to add that he got married to his second cousin, Ujjala, and then moved to Copenhagen. Deepika's father mentioned that he found a job there and stayed there till 1986, when Deepika was born. Adding that he retired three years later, Prakash revealed:

"I got married to my second cousin Ujjala soon after and we moved to Copenhagen as I found a job there and lived there till 1986 when Deepika was born. I retired in 1989."

While some users remained surprised by the fact that the actress' parents are cousins, others shared that consanguineous marriages are decreasing but common among communities in south India.

She shared that upon learning about Madhuri's wedding, Parkash Padukone locked himself in the bathroom. The actress further added that it had become a long-standing joke in the family.
