Dhanush has been grabbing the headlines quite frequently in the past few days, but this time, it’s for a different reason. The Tamil actor cum filmmaker is now divorced from Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth, marking the official end of their marriage. The duo tied the knot back in 2004 and decided to part ways in 2022, and now, they are officially no longer husband and wife.
Dhanush and his then-wife, Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth announced their decision to separate back in January 2022, through a heartfelt social media post. The actor took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle and made the announcement official with a post that read:
“18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well-wishers to each other. The journey has been one of growth, understanding, adjustment, and adaptation. Today, we stand at a place where our paths separate.”
Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth also shared a similar message on her social media page and requested privacy during the transition period. The former couple shared 18 years of marital bliss together and officially parted ways on November 27, 2024, as the Chennai family court granted them the divorce.
Aishwaryaa, the daughter of veteran actor, Rajinikanth, got hitched to Dhanush in 2004, at a grand wedding in Chennai. Needless to say, the ceremony was attended by big political personalities and A-listers of the film industry. The couple are parents to two children, Yatra and Linga. Now that they are no longer married, Dhanush and Aishwaryaa will continue to co-parent their children.
Well, it turns out that Dhanush is not planning on catching a break from the court any time soon. While his personal life has drawn significant attention recently, he’s also grabbing the for his ongoing legal controversy with actress, Nayanthara.

Dhanush and Nayanthara had a major fallout after the release of a trailer for the Netflix documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale. On November 16, 2024, Dhanush accused Nayanthara of including a BTS clip from his film, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan without his permission, for which he sued her for Rs. 10 crore.
While Nayanthara has refuted his legal notice, Dhanush has now officially sued Rowdy Pictures, Nayanthara and her husband, Vignesh Shivan for using the BTS clip without permission, staying true to his original Rs. 10 crore compensation.
