Nayanthara, a stunning actress who has been a dominant force in the entertainment world for over two decades, has an impressive portfolio of over 75 movies. Her Bollywood debut in 2023 with the movie, Jawan and her well-deserved title of 'Lady Superstar' are significant milestones in her career. However, a recent controversy has emerged in which she called out Dhanush for suing her for Rs. 10 crore over a 3-second BTS clip from his film featuring her and her husband, Vignesh. And now, the battle between the two has escalated even more.
The Hindu reported on November 27, 2024, that Dhanush's production house, Wunderbar Films Private Limited, has filed a lawsuit against Nayanthara, Vignesh, and their Rowdy Pictures Private Limited. The suit claims that they used certain visuals from his film, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in the Netflix docu-drama, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale, which is unauthorised.

Dhanush's company has also taken out an application urging the Madras High Court to grant permission to sue Los Gatos Production Services India LLP, an entity through which Netflix reports its content investments in India. Since Los Gatos is Mumbai-based, Dhanush has urged the court to use 12 of the Letters Patent. The court heard both parties' preliminary arguments and granted the permission, noting that a major part of the cause of action had arisen within the jurisdiction of the High Court. As per reports, the audiences are urged to follow the case closely as Nayanthara will have to respond to the notice at the next hearing.
Nayanthara's bold stance against Dhanush has garnered widespread support and admiration. In her open letter, she fearlessly criticised Dhanush, even tagging several prominent figures from the South Indian film industry. Notably, Shruti Haasan expressed her solidarity with Nayanthara by liking the post. Other co-stars of Dhanush, including Aishwarya Rajesh, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Nazriya Fahadh, Anupama Parameswaran, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Manjima Mohan, and Gouri G Kishan, also lent their support by liking Nayanthara's post.
For those unfamiliar with the situation, Nayanthara, in her open letter, revealed that she had been pursuing Dhanush for two years to obtain a clip from the movie, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, for her upcoming documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale, set to release on her 40th birthday. Despite her efforts, Dhanush declined her request. When Nayanthara used a three-second BTS clip from the movie, Dhanush filed a lawsuit against her for Rs. 10 crore. This unjust treatment led Nayanthara to release a 3-page open letter to call out the actor.
