Nayanthara and Dhanush's spat has been taking up all the headlines. For the unversed, Nayanthara, in an open letter, has bashed Dhanush for suing her for Rs. 10 crores, that too for using a three-second BTS clip from the movie, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, produced by the actor. Nayanthara revealed that for two years, she had to chase Dhanush to obtain a clip to use on her documentary, Nayanthara: Behind The Fairytale, which he refused. Well, the actress used a BTS clip, for which she was sued for Rs. 10 crore. She has received support from the industry for speaking her mind out, and now Dhanush's team has reacted to the fiasco.
Amid the ongoing controversy between Nayanthara and Dhanush, the actor's legal team issued a statement wherein OTT giant Netflix was asked to take down the three-second clip used in the documentary Nayanthara: Behind The Fairy Tale within 24 hours for infringing Dhanush's copyright over the film, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. The statement can be read as:
"Advice your client to take down the content infringing my client's copyright over the film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan by using the same in your client's documentary named Nayanthara Beyond the Fairytale within 24 hours, failing which my client will be forced to initiate appropriate legal action, including but not limited to seeking damages to a sum of Rs. 10 crores against your client and Netflix India."
Nayanthara has claimed that the three-second clip used in her documentary from the film, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan was shot on their personal phones. Now, Dhanush's lawyer dismissed the claims and mentioned that the actor, who is the producer of the movie, knows very well where they had spent each penny on this movie. The lawyer further called Nayanthara's claim of Dhanush not commissioning anyone for the short clip used in her documentary simply baseless and asked her to prove the same. In the lawyer's words:
"My client is the producer of the film and they know where they have spent each penny for the production of the film. Your client has stated that my client has not commissioned any person to shoot the behind-the-scenes footage and the said statement is baseless. Your client is put to strict proof of the same."
Releasing a three-page letter, Nayanthara openly bashed Dhanush as he demanded Rs. 10 crore for copyright infringement involving her Netflix documentary. She said that she was shocked to see that Dhanush demanded that much money, that, too, for a three-second clip captured on their personal devices, which is, again, very much available in the public domain. Not only this, Nayanthara, in her letter, said that she really wished Dhanush could be someone who he portrayed himself to be in front of the audience, and thus, it's clear that he doesn't practice what he preaches. Nayanthara tagged several of Dhanush's co-stars, and most of them supported the actress for talking her mind out and standing her ground, while Dhanush's fans called it to be a mere PR game.
In an old video from Filmfare 2016, Nayanthara was seen apologising to Dhanush for not meeting his expectations. She received the Filmfare Best Actress award and thanked her fans. Soon after that, she addressed Dhanush, who was present in the audience, and apologised to him by revealing that the actor, who produced NDR hated her performance in the film, and thus, she was sorry to disappoint him.
