Dharmendra and his first wife, Prakash Kaur's elder son, Sunny Deol's latest film, Gadar 2, was released on August 11, 2023. The film is a sequel to the 2001 film, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. And soon with its release, the film got a thunderous response at the box office, with an opening day collection of Rs 40 crore. For the same, the film's production team hosted a special premiere. It was a star-studded affair, and Sunny Deol, his son, Rajveer Deol, Bobby Deol with his wife, Tanya, Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, filmmaker, Subhash Ghai, Utkarsh Sharma, Gaurav Gupta and many others graced the event.
However, it was Dharmendra and his first wife, Prakash Kaur's stunning appearance at the film's premiere, which caught our attention. Although the duo graced the same event, they didn't pose together. In separate glimpses from the event, Dharmendra looked handsome as always in a printed shirt paired with a black waistcoat, matching pants and a cap. On the other hand, Prakash, who is otherwise known to stay away from the limelight, looked stunning in a pink salwar suit. Reportedly, they arrived at the event to support their son, Sunny for his film. For the unversed, Sunny plays the powerful character of 'Tara Singh' crossing over to Pakistan to rescue his son (played by Utkarsh Sharma) in the film.

The handsome actor, Dharmendra married twice. He tied the knot with veteran actress and politician, Hema Malini in 1980, when he was already married to his first wife, Prakash Kaur. Not only that, Dharmendra and Prakash were already parents to their four kids, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Ajeeta Deol and Vijeta Deol. However, while acting in several films together, Hema and Dharmendra fell for each other. Their love for one another was so strong that their relationship, despite raising many eyebrows, couldn't be fazed by the criticism and trolling on it. However, Prakash was also adamant about not giving Dharmendra a divorce. Thus, Dharmendra and Hema converted to Islam during their marriage, and began their marital bliss.
During her appearance on an episode of Rendezvous With Simi Garewal, Hema Malini revealed how she fell in love with an already-married man, Dharmendra even after resisting him for the longest period of time. She said that though she liked Dharmendra, she never intended to marry him. However, she continued working with him and even wanted to get married to someone like him. Hema said:

“I never bothered in the beginning, not at all. Anyone can say that he’s a very good-looking man, doesn’t mean you have to marry that person. So, I continued working with him, but not at all with any intention that I’m going to marry this person. Somewhere I used to think, if at all I have to marry, I will marry somebody like him. Not him, definitely not.”

In the same conversation, Hema also talked about facing a lot of family opposition when she decided to marry Dharmendra, as he was an already married man. But eventually, she couldn’t resist the actor’s love for her. Thus, she took the courageous step of tying the knot with Dharmendra in her life. The actress said:
“No parents will like their daughter to be in this kind of marriage, but it was difficult to decide any other thing for me. I was quite close to him. We were together for so long. So now suddenly to think of someone else I want to marry, I don’t think it was right. So, I called him and said, ‘you have to marry me now.’ He said, ‘yeah, I’ll marry you.’ That’s how it happened."
After tying the knot with his second wife, Hema Malini, Dharmendra was blessed with two more daughters, Esha Deol in November 1981 and Ahana Deol in July 1985.
