Hema Malini – charm, grace and ageless beauty are the words when we think of B-town’s Dream Girl. She reigned the film industry in the 70s and 80s and has floored us with her dance. It is not for nothing that she is called the ‘Dream Girl’ of Bollywood. It was on the sets of Tum Haseen Main Jawaan, when she had met the man of her dreams, Dharmendra but initially was reluctant to pursue her relationship with him because he was already a married man with four kids. But this didn’t stop Dharmendra from falling in love with Hema. (Also Read: Sameera Reddy's Son Hans Brings His Newborn Sister Home Cuddled In His Arms, It Is A Sight To Behold)

BJP MP, Hema Malini was out for a cleanliness drive at the Parliament to promote Prime Minister Narendra Modi's project, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. As soon as the video went viral, trolls couldn’t stop laughing hard over it and the latest to join them was Hema Malini’s husband, Dharmendra. When he was asked by a Twitter user if Hema Malini has ever even picked up a broom in her entire life, Dharmendra had replied, "Haan films main, mujhe bhi anaadi lag rahi thi. Maine magar bachpan mein, apni maa ka hamesha haath bataya hai. Mai jhaadoo mein maahir tha. I love cleanliness."
After being trolled for his response on the question, Dharmendra chose to apologise in the cutest way possible and the throwback picture that he had shared along with it, made his apology even funnier. Sitting by a car and looking at the sky with joined hands, Dharmendra tweeted, “Kuchh bhi keh baithta hoon. kuchh bhi KI bhawna ko. Kuchh bhi samajh baithte hain yaar log. TWEET BADSHAH. kuchh bhi kiya baat jhaadu ki bhi… tauba tauba... kabhi na karon ga. Hum ka maafi de do maalik”. Revealing in an interview that falling in love was not a calculated decision for her, Hema Malini had said, “I don't say that what happened was the best option.” Whenever she had thought of her life partner, she had always imagined someone like him - handsome, strong with a peaceful face, but never him. She had continued, “I was attracted to Dharamji but did not have the courage to say so. I had the better sense to realise that it was a futile relationship, him being a married man, but due to our exceptional circumstances could not sever the ties.”
Admitting that being married to a man who remained close to his first family was difficult, Hema Malini had stated, “In my case he was already committed when we came together. There are special moments in your children's life, and again, he has prior commitments. There are milestones in your career and his, and one is not together because making an appearance together becomes a statement. It makes other loved ones uneasy, so you have to withdraw, understand, let go and swallow your hurt and you do just that.” She had further added, “I console myself that had I been into a regular marriage with the regular responsibilities of other wives, would I have been able to evolve and grow the way I did? Dharamji trusted me and encouraged my pursuits.”
In a throwback interview, Dharmendra’s first wife, Prakash Kaur had defended her husband for being tagged as a womaniser. She had said, “Why only my husband, any man would have preferred Hema to me. How dare anyone call my husband a womaniser when half the industry is doing the same thing? All heroes are having affairs and getting married a second time.” Sympathising with Hema Malini, she had added, “I can understand what Hema is going through. Even she has to face the world, her relatives and her friends. But if I were in Hema’s place, I would not have done what she did. For, as a woman, I can understand her feelings. But as a wife and a mother I do not approve of them.” (Also Read: Rishi Kapoor's Battle With Cancer, Says He Had Lost 26 Kgs And Had No Appetite For First Four Months)
