Dharmendra Calls Vinesh Phogat 'Brave Daughter' Days After Hema Malini's '100 Grams Matter' Comment

Vinesh Phogat made the entire nation proud with her achievements in the Paris Olympics 2024. But unfortunately, the entire nation's dream was shattered when she couldn't make it to the finals for being overweight just by 100 grams. While everyone sided with the wrestler after her heartbreaking disqualification, it was Hema Malini, who grabbed a lot of attention with her 'weight in check' comment. Soon after that, the legendary actress called Vinesh 'heroine'. Amid this, Dharmendra reacted to Vinesh's disqualification.

Dharmendra reacts to Vinesh Phogat's disqualification

Taking to his IG handle, Dharmendra shared a photo of Vinesh Phogat. Sharing the photo, the actor called the wrestler a 'brave, adventurous daughter of the soil' and extended wishes for her good health and happiness. Dharmendra, in his note, also said that he was 'sad' to learn about the news of Vinesh's disqualification. Dharmendra's note can be read as:

"Darling daughter Vinesh, we are extremely sad to hear the news. You are a brave, adventurous daughter of the soil. We love you and always pray for your health and happiness. Be happy healthy and strong for your family and your loving people."

Hema Malini's 'weight in check' comment on Vinesh Phogat brought her a lot of flak

It was soon after Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the final round of the Women's 50 kg category in Women's Wrestling in the Paris Olympics 2024 that Hema Malini was asked to share her take on the same. The actress, in an interview with PTI, shared that it was simply unbelievable how Vinesh was disqualified for only being overweight by 100 grams. She also mentioned that 100 grams matter a lot and that all the efforts had gone in vain. Well, soon after such a comment, netizens clapped back at the actress.

After receiving flak from netizens, Hema Malini took to her IG handle and shared a supportive note for Vinesh Phogat. She posted a photo of the wrestler and called her the 'Heroine of this Olympics'. The actress also penned down how the entire nation rallies behind Vinesh.

Vinesh Poghat announced retirement after being disqualified at the Paris Olympics 2024

Soon after her dream was broken after not being able to fight for the gold medal, Vinesh Phogat announced her retirement. In a heartfelt note, Vinesh asked for forgiveness and added how she was defeated by wrestling. She also mentioned that she is now broken, and has no strength, and thus she's bidding farewell to wrestling.

For the unversed, it was during the first round when Vinesh's weight was 49.90 kg, and on the same day, during the semi-finals, Vinesh weighed 2 kg extra. Well, as it was the 50kg category, the wrestler had to work really hard to shed the extra kilos.

As per the reports, she starved for 12 hours and didn't even drink water. Apart from cycling, her hair was also cut, and blood was reportedly drawn out so that Vinesh's weight stands at only 50 kg. Well, maybe destiny wanted something different as the player weighed 100 grams more during the weigh-ins, and it broke all her dreams.
