Bollywood actress, Dia Mirza is the proud UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador for India, and she's trying her level best to promote eco-friendly habits. On the personal front, she tied the knot with her businessman-husband, Vaibhav Rekhi, on February 15, 2021. The couple is proud parents to two kids, Avyaan Azaad Rekhi and Samaira Rekhi. For the unversed, Samaira is Vaibhav's daughter from his first marriage with Sunaina Rekhi.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Dia Mirza talked about how privileged she is and expressed her gratitude for the opportunities that she gets in life. Talking about the same, the 41-year-old actress revealed that the films allow her to fulfil the purpose of her life and make it worth it to be away from her children, Avyaan and Samaira. She said:
“I feel really privileged and grateful to be a part of films that follow my purpose. It helps me do something that actually makes a difference. It strikes some really important conversations and hopefully brings change. And, I always believe that storytelling through cinema is a powerful instrument for positive social change. Good, powerful, and meaningful stories, only make it worth it to be away from my children. So that they can watch it someday and recognise its real value of it.”

Dia Mirza also opened up about her days at home with her husband, Vaibhav Rekhi, and their kids. Talking about the same, she shared that they have an infant and a teenager at home and added that it's interesting to see them bonding over little things. In her words:
“It’s really interesting. Vaibhav and I have a full spectrum at home. We have an infant and a teenager, and every emotion is there--the hormones of a teenager and the fascination of an infant discovering the world. It’s really interesting to see how bonded these two are, and how much they love each other. How their eyes and heart lit up in each other's presence.”
When Dia was asked about the equation between her 1-year-old son, Avyaan, and her 13-year-old step-daughter, Samaira, she shared that her baby boy loves old music and his curiosity gets his elder sister. Sharing deets about Avyaan's choice of songs, the doting mommy said:
“There’s so much about Avyaan’s curiosity that gets Samaira. She keeps saying ‘how does he like old music?’ I just say ‘we give him everything, from classics to contemporary. He is just the way he is, what do we do? He asks for it, and we play’. He loves Strangers In The Night by Frank Sinatra and then Hum Hai Rahi Pyaar Ke by Kishore Kumar. He says ‘Alexa Hum Hain, Alexa Na Na Na.’”

The Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein actress revealed that her kids have already started fighting over playing music in the car. Calling it great fun to watch, Dia shared that Samaira hates to listen to the same songs again and again, which Avyaan likes. However, the doting mommy also added that sometimes things get super challenging and stated:
“They have already started fighting about playing whose music in the car. He would say ‘Na Na’. and Samaira would be like ‘No, Avyaan I can’t bear to hear the song one more time'. But, every day is not all laugh. It’s hard work and super challenging. But it’s such a great thing to see their bond, it’s just the best thing in the world.”
On the work front, Dia Mirza will be next seen in Anurag Kashyap’s film, Bheed.
