Alia Bhatt turned heads quite literally, as she made her appearance at the prestigious Met Gala 2024, this marking her second time, after she made her debut last year. Keeping in mind the theme of the event as the ‘Garden of Time’, the diva chose to put her best foot forward and gracefully flaunted her cultural roots in an exquisitely crafted saree from the shelves of Sabyasachi Mukherjee. While her look and glam became the talk of the town in no time, here’s a particular moment from her stunning appearance on the event, that grabbed attention.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), an internet user dropped a clip of the precise moment, when Alia Bhatt made her entry on the famous steps of the Met Gala 2024, and posed sensually for the photographers. The diva donned a beautiful saree with a long train, which also featured exquisite 3D flowers. In the particular glimpse, what caught everyone’s attention was the fact that the photographers mistook Alia to be Deepika Padukone. Interestingly, Alia seemed to remain calm and composed despite the error of identification, and continued to pose for the shutterbugs. It must be noted that the authenticity of the video cannot be ascertained as of yet.

Much like her look for the Met Gala debut last year, Alia Bhatt created a storm on the internet with her awe-inspiring look for the Met Gala 2024. She simply shed fairy vibes in a sheer saree featuring three-dimensional floral motifs all over it. Designed by the expertise of Sabyasachi Mukherjee, the highlight of her outfit was the 23-feet long train it carried, and the unique butterfly-styled blouse she paired it with. Later on, during an interaction on the red carpet, the diva decoded her look and credited the craftsmen for the handcrafted beauty that she wore. In her words:
“The sari's design, with its translucent, glass-like appearance is not just a nod to the ethereal quality of the garden in Ballard's story but also a tribute to the exquisite, enduring craft of sari-making. What drew me to this look was the sheer audacity of it—how it merges traditional craftsmanship with avant-garde aesthetics. Sabyasachi, known for his dedication to bringing old-world charm and modern sophistication together, seemed like the perfect choice to encapsulate the theme of this year's Met Gala.”
For the unversed, a single ticket for attending the Met Gala 2024 is priced at 75,000 USD per person, which upon conversion becomes approximately Rs. 63 lakhs in INR. Moreover, the cost of an entire table at the Met Gala is USD 350,000, which comes to about Rs. 2,92,00,000 in INR. According to a report by News18, it was stated that while huge companies and design houses buy tables for their guests, on the other hand, individuals have to pay for their own tickets at the Met Gala. Therefore, it can be assumed that Alia Bhatt must have spent a whopping amount of Rs. 63 lakh to attend the prestigious event.
