Diljit Dosanjh has made his homeland proud of his global achievements at the moment. The Punjabi singer, who has made several hearts swoon with his electrifying chartbusters, has now taken a global stride. After entering the top 50 in the Billboard Chart in 2020, he made his outstanding debut at the Coachella Music Festival in 2023. He also did several international concerts and tours, and more recently, became the first Punjabi musician to be a part of The Tonight Show by Jimmy Fallon. Additionally, Diljit has gained mammoth recognition with his performances in films like Good Newwz, Haunsla Rakh, Crew, Chamkila and more.
In an interaction with Raj Shamani, Diljit Dosanjh got candid about various aspects in his life. He reminisced about his childhood and shared how he always prayed to God that there should come a time when people must know him, and not the other way round. Adding how his profession as an artist has helped him to achieve that dream of his, Diljit said:
“When I was a kid, I used to ask God that please let everyone know me, but I don’t want to know anyone. This was childish. I thought I like music, so this is the only way to attain my dreams. I am not good with finance, and I am generally not good at other things.”

Moving further with his line of thoughts, Diljit mentioned that he has been pretty bad in carrying many basic skills in life, which also includes handling finances and other life skills. The talented singer mentioned that he lacks in bargaining skills, especially when it comes to asserting his fees for his projects. Furthermore, Diljit revealed he cannot book a cab, hotel or even a flight. In his words:
“I can’t bargain, and people will always tell me, ‘You leave it, we will do that.’ Agar koi puchega ki kitne paise loge (When somebody asks about my fees), I won’t be able to bargain. I can’t plan these things. I can’t book Uber. I don’t have the app, and I don’t even know how to do it. I have never booked a hotel in my life. I have never booked a flight. I can’t do these small day-to-day tasks, and I have never done them in my life.”
In the concluding segment of the interview, Diljit reminisced some more anecdotes from his growing up years, which highlights how ordinarily he has been raised all his life. The singer-turned-actor remarked that he used to do everything his family asked him to do, which also sometimes included picking up deliveries of his sister’s suits from shops on her behalf. He mentioned:
“I used to do everything that my family would ask me to do. Whatever my elder sister would ask me to do, I would do that. She is the head of the family. She would ask me to fetch her suits, and I would do whatever she asked.”

Previously, while speaking with Ranveer Allahabadia, Diljit Dosanjh revealed that he was forced to leave his parents’ home at the age of 11. He mentioned that it was his parents who forced him to migrate to a different city with his uncle, post which their connection completely snapped. Diljit mentioned that his parents never asked him about his wish.
