Diljit Dosanjh is one of the renowned and talented artists in the music fraternity in India at the moment. The singer-turned-actor has swooned millions of audiophiles with his chartbusting numbers at the box-office. Moreover, he has also ventured into the acting zone and delivered a few memorable roles in films like Good Newwz, Honsla Rakh, Crew, Arjun Patiala and many others.
In an interaction with Ranveer Allahbadia, Diljit Dosanjh opened up about certain unheard anecdotes from his life. He spoke about his family and recalled that he was forced to leave his parents’ home at the age of 11. His parents asked him to move to the city to live with his maternal uncle, with the hopes of leading a better life. Adding how nobody asked his permission, Diljit said:
“I was eleven years old when I left my home and started living with my mamaji (maternal uncle). I came to the city leaving my village behind. I shifted to Ludhiana. He said ‘send him to the city with me’ and my parents said ‘yes, take him.’ My parents did not even ask me.”

Moving forth in the conversation, Diljit revealed that after leaving his parents’ home, he lived alone in a small room in the city. He added how at that time, due to lack of cell phones, he never reconnected back to his parents and family, thereby straining their relations further. He shared:
“I used to stay alone in a small room. I used to just go to school and come back, there wasn’t any TV. I had a lot of time. Also, we didn’t have mobile phones back then, even if I had to call home or receive a call from my parents, it cost us money. So I started becoming distant from my family.”
In the concluding segment of the interaction, Diljit revealed how it is now that he realises the decisions made by his parents weren’t wrong, since at the end of the day, they wanted to him to be happy and well-settled. However, he also mentioned that his parents never asked him about his whereabouts, once he left them. In his words:
“I respect my mother a lot. My father is a very sweet person. He did not ask me anything. He did not even ask which school I studied. But my connection with them broke. Not just with them, with everyone.”
