TV actor, Dinesh Phadnis, well known for portraying the role of 'Fredricks' in the long-running detective show, CID, has left for the heavenly abode. The actor, who was on a ventilator for some days, breathed his last on December 5, 2023. Dinesh was 57 and receiving treatment at Mumbai’s Tunga Hospital. His last rites will take place today at his residence.
In an interaction with ETimes TV, Dinesh Phadnis's co-star and close friend, Dayanand Shetty, confirmed the news of the former's demise. He revealed that the actor passed away at midnight due to multiple organ failure and that the entire cast of CID was present at his residence. Sharing deets about Dinesh's last rites, Dayanand said:
"Yes, it's true he is no more. It happened around 12:08 am. I am at his residence right now. His last rites will be conducted today at the Daulat Nagar crematorium. Almost everyone from the CID is present right now."

In an interview with Pinkvilla, Dinesh Phadnis’s CID co-star Dayanand Shetty, who played the role of 'Daya' in the popular television drama, refuted the rumours of the former suffering a heart attack. He shared that Dinesh was suffering from liver damage and his condition was critical. In his words:
"Firstly, it wasn't a heart attack, it was liver damage because of which he was immediately rushed to Tunga Hospital, Malad. Dinesh was getting treated for some other ailment but the medication affected his liver adversely. That's why it is always recommended to take medicines very carefully. You never know when the medicine that one is taking to treat something can cause another major ailment. One should be very careful regarding allopathic medicines."

Dinesh Phadnis became a household name for playing the role of 'Fredericks' on the show, CID. He was a part of the show for almost 20 years and was loved by his massive fanbase. For the unversed, the detective show, spearheaded by Shivaji Satam as 'ACP Pradyuman', aired in 1998 and became one of India's longest-running television shows. Other than CID, Dinesh also made a cameo in the hit TV show, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.
