According to credible sources, Disha Vakani's departure from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah was a result of her bold decision. She was reportedly earning 1.2 lakh per episode, a figure that was close to Jethalal's 1.5 lakh. When the show's makers were unable to meet her salary expectations, she chose to leave. Her departure marked the end of a successful run of 2437 episodes, and by simple calculation, she had earned approximately Rs. 30 crores during her time on the show.
For the unversed, Disha Vakani started off her acting career with the theatre background. As per Koimoi, in an old interview, the actress walked down memory lane and recalled receiving her first paycheck, which she offered to her father. Disha said that she was paid Rs. 250 for a drama, which was her first payment. This was a significant moment for her, marking the beginning of her professional acting career. Talking more about the same, Disha revealed that she gave her first salary to her father, Bhim Vakani, a famous Gujarati theatre personality.

She said that on that day, her father teared up, and that moment will always be close to her heart. Disha also remarked that for artists, work satisfaction is more than monetary satisfaction. Disha can be quoted as saying:
"I was paid Rs 250 for my first drama. I remember that I handed over the money to my father. He had tears in his eyes; that moment will always be closer to my heart. As an artist, work satisfaction is more important than monetary satisfaction."
It was in November 2015, when Disha Vakani tied the knot with businessman, Mayur Padia. In 2017, the duo welcomed their baby girl and, ahead of the Disha, went for a maternity break. After the break, Disha never returned to the show, and now it has been over six years. In 2022, Disha and Mayur welcomed a baby boy, and the family of four lives a low-key life away from the limelight.
