Disha Vakani has grabbed all the headlines with her mesmerising role in the much-loved sitcom, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. The way she delivered her performance has captivated a zillion of hearts. Moreover, it was her chemistry with her on-screen husband, ‘Jethalal’, Dilip Joshi, which remained a favourite among the audience, and they couldn't get over the same when Disha bid farewell to her role in the show, viewers kept waiting for her to return. Back in 2023, reports were rife that Disha might return to the show. While there's been no confirmation about the same, let us look back at the time when the actress talked about her first salary, which later increased by 49900 per cent while working on TMKOC. Yes, you read it right!
For the unversed, Disha Vakani started off her acting career with the theatre background. As per Koimoi, in an old interview, the actress walked down memory lane and recalled receiving her first paycheck, which she offered to her father. Disha said that she was paid Rs. 250 for a drama, which was her first payment. Talking more about the same, Disha revealed that she gave her first salary to her father, Bhim Vakani, a famous Gujarati theatre personality.

She said that on that day, her father teared up, and that moment will always be close to her heart. Disha also remarked that for artists, work satisfaction is more than monetary satisfaction. Disha can be quoted as saying:
"I was paid Rs 250 for my first drama. I remember that I handed over the money to my father. He had tears in his eyes; that moment will always be closer to my heart. As an artist, work satisfaction is more important than monetary satisfaction.”
On the other hand, when Disha was working as 'Dayaben' in the popular sitcom, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, she was paid an amount of Rs. 1.25 lakh per episode, making it a 49900 percent hike from her first salary. For the unversed, Disha was the third highest-paid actress in the show after Dilip Joshi and Shailesh Lodha.
It was last year when TMKOC made it to the headlines as one of the cast members of the show, Jennifer Mistry Bansiwala accused Asit Modi of sexual harassment. Since then, other cast members have talked about the harassment they faced while being in the show. While talking about the same in Bollywood Bubble, Monika Bhadoria stated that although she was not sure, Disha not returning to the show despite good payment might be because of the fact that she too had to face abuse, else who wouldn't want to come back to a place, which pays good money.

It was in November 2015, when Disha Vakani tied the knot with a businessman, Mayur Padia. It was in 2017 when the duo welcomed their baby girl. And it was when Disha took a maternity break from TMKOC, and never made it back again to the show. In 2022, Disha and Mayur welcomed a baby boy, and the family of four lives a low-key life away from the limelight.
